Beyond Ground Zero

...for those whose health was damaged by the events of 9/11

April 13, 2008, from 2pm-5pm there will be a 9/11-health forum at BMCC, 199 Chambers Street.

If you or anyone you know is sick from the aftermath of 9/11, you are invited to fight for your right to health care for the rest of your life.

Now is the time to stop the phony debate on whether or not our illnesses are “9/11 Related.”

This is our opportunity to speak and address our issues to Bellevue Hospital’s World Trade Center Clinic, politicians, New York City and those who have not forgotten as the country promised it would not forget 9/11. 9/11 did not end in 2001 for us.

There will be meetings at Beyond Ground Zero before the event to discuss common medical problems, complaints concerning medical care, lack of health insurance, compensation issues such as workers compensation, disability, SSI, etc. even your general fears, worries and frustrations.

Out of these discussions we can plan our approach, list our demands and simply see that we can support each other. These meetings are not mandatory, They are additional support, and a place to ask questions of us who are willing to share our experience with the system, which seems to want to brush us aside.

You are not alone.

To register for the forum, attend planning meetings or ask questions call (212) 358-0295. We have English, Spanish, Polish and Chinese speakers who will give you more information .

I will post more information on this site in the coming days.
