I have been taking vit D for several years now after reading a number of articles as posted on the Globe and Mail website. Turns out the leading researcher in Canada for vit D takes 8000 iu's a day and I have been mimicking this now for some time. No colds, flu, elevated mood, lower cancer risk (cancerous tissue has been shown to be lacking in vit D)-studies involving millions shows the closer one is to the equator the less likely the chance for developing cancer no matter what one is exposed to. Being in Canada we need all the help we can get.

Good to hear some personal experience with the golite True. I used a few large traditional 10,000lux light boxes but did not find them particularly effective. I have also found there is no substitute for natural sunlight but like you have adrenal fatigue and my circadian rhythm is out of whack so getting to sleep early and waking up to early to maximise my daylight exposure is very difficult!

True,
Hi Maff, have you found that natural sunlight helps with sleep/insomnia? I dont have a problem going to sleep but wake up after a few hours and cant get back to sleep until early dawn..which is when I need to get up to avoid SAD. But if I dont go back to sleep at dawn..I have tremendous energy and excellent mood--but my body knows it needs sleep!

I have the same situation True. Waking up in the middle of the night can be typical of adrenal fatigue due to low blood sugar or a spike in cortisol at the wrong time. I'm sure you already do this but avoid high carb meals and stimulants like caffeine in the evening to avoid hypoglycemia in the night waking you up. If you suspect a cortisol peak during the night may be to blame then phospatidylserine (PS) supplements may help. Only adrenal hormone saliva testing will confirm this problem however.
