Allergic to perfumes

#1 3 years, 2 months ago
Hi.

I am the kind of person that 15 years ago would have dismissed allergy sufferers as neurotics.

A few years back I shared a house with a guy in allergy meltdown. His windows were sealed and covered in foil, and when I sprayed my deodorant on, he suffered acutely, even though he was 20 foot away, separated by 2 doors.

Well now I'm in his boat......and it's no fun at all.

Anybody else also in the same boat? Namely that most deodorants, air fresheners, perfumes, even the residual smell of some washing powders, all can throw me into a state of abject misery, nausea, migraine, and inabilty to breathe properly.

Are there any treatments that work?

I'm becoming a hermit, so I'd really appreciate any help.

And yes, I've tried the medical profession....haha.

Cheers

You are describing chemical sensitivity, and there's loads of us on the 'Multiple Chemical Sensitivity' forum.

Did you and your house mate work in the same field by any chance? its interesting how you have developed it too.
