Hi,
Has anyone had good results with colonic irrigation for candida?
i'm currently taking Candigest, Mycopril (680), Grapefruit seed extract, bentonite clay, aloe vera juice and probiotics. Alongside all the stuff i'm taking for Adrenal fatigue and low thyroid function!! I don't want to pay out for anything else unless other people think it has helped them.
I am also on a strict no carb diet by the way. In fact I live on veg, salad, fish and natural yoghurt!
Thanks
Debbie

Hi Debbie,
I wish I had something positive to report but my advice would be to save your money!
I have given colonics a good go and derived no benefit at all. The first time around I had a series of six through a local naturopath. The second time I had colonics every other day for 3 weeks at an alternative medicine hospital in Mexico (along with a host of other things). All I got for my trouble (and money) was a lot of abdominal discomfort.
In my opinion it is when Candida/yeast grows out of control in the small intestine rather than the colon that it causes real problems. After all we absorb things (including toxins, bits of dead microbes etc) a lot more readily through the small intestine as this is where we absorb all the nutrients from the food we consume - it is designed for this purpose. Colonics only give the colon a hose down so don't touch any problems with Candida/yeast in the small intestine.
Others may disagree and have had beneficial results but this is my 2 cents/pennies worth

Debbie - I have had some great results with colonic irrigation, but totally agree that it might not be for everyone, especially given the downsides.
As for the positives: I saw a drastic improvement in the color, consistency, and smell of my bowel movements. Before irrigation, I had very sour smelling stools that were yellowish/orange in appearance (despite all of the lovely greens I was eating), and had a lot of mucous passing through me, also very yellowish/orange. I also had very foul flatulence, especially when eating any animal meat. I had recently started a Candida diet and anti-fungals, so I reckon much of this was yeast die-off related, and the session really helped me flush it all out. I felt much "lighter" almost immediately after the session.
There are definitely downsides. Cost can be a big one. The procedure can be very unpleasant, and not just from the obvious intrusion of a tube up your rear, but from the stomach cramping you experience when the water fills up your colon. Some moments of the procedure felt eerily similar to having food poisoning, although it passed very quickly. I also felt very fatigued/flu-like for about a week after my first session, and for about 48 hours after my second. I think your results will most likely depend on how toxic you are, and how much stuff is getting flushed out/kicked around.
I do not plan on going for any more sessions, as I feel like I made much progress in the two sessions, and have seen even further improvement with the Bentonite/Psyllium shakes on my own. I would say if you do go, make sure it is under the guidance of a physician, you use a respectable/established facility, and trust your instincts; if you don't notice any improvement after the first session, it might not be the best choice for you.
Best of luck.

Stache!
Thanks so much for your opinion- I think I'm going to give it a try- I'm already doing Bentonite/Psyllium but feel I could do more.
This all started when I asked my partner to pay for a colonic for Mother's Day and he said that's the worst thing he'd ever been asked to buy!!!!!!!! You have to laugh or you'd cry!!!
