I've had candida for over 15 years I guess and becoming quite adept at treating it. For the past two-three years, I was busy struggling with a parasite, which I misidentified as candida for a while. Last year I got better and having starved myself for months, I went through a period of "No one is going ot make me eat low carbs!". I ate ice cream, maple syrup, jams, etc.
I knew that my candida levels were at 3+ but it didn't bother me - I had no symptoms. But for the past few weeks, I've been having lots of fatigue and burning etc. I realized not long ago that I was again battling candida.
I started cutting out jams and maple syrup and very sweet fruits from my diet - regretfully. And taking a clove or two of raw garlic a day. Symptoms go down fast as raw garlic according to my experience is the supreme antifungal. And on top, it cleans up the blood, boosts immunity and chelates some mercury from the digestive tract.
But then I remember raw ginger. Chinese traditional medicine sees candida as cold-humidity accumulating. So I eat raw ginger for its drying powers and also gives you a great boost. I must say it picks your energy levels up greatly. I cut up some fresh ginger root and just chew it a bit until I feel a nice warmth in my stomach. It really does help.
So I strongly recommend to any candida sufferer these two very simple, very accessible candida remedies - raw garlic and raw ginger.

Hi Dechen,
Great to see you but sorry to hear you are once again battling Candida. I don't think any of us would blame you for indulging in those tasty treats when you were feeling good!
Thanks for posting about raw garlic and ginger. I agree they are both excellent antimcrobials and also have many other benefits, some of which you mentioned.
I would just say that I struggle with raw garlic as it is potent stuff and really irritates my sore gut. So those with particularly sore guts be careful and if you have any serious inflammatory gut condition I imagine it would be contraindicated. If you can tolerate it though it is certainly a cheap and effective rememdy. Perhaps I would do better taking it at the same time as something soothing such as peppermint.
In addition to garlic and ginger I would also suggest raw cloves and oregano for Candida as both their oils have been shown in clinical studies to be highly potent antifungals. The best treatments are often in the kitchen cupboard/fridge
Hope you're back feeling on top of things again soon Dechen. Keep us updated on your progress. Take care.

Hi Maff,
I actually don't have much of a problem with candida - when I don't eat simple sugars (like fruits and others) and use the garlic and raw ginger. I find raw ginger really a good pick up.
My gut is excruciatingly sensitive but nor the raw garlic nor the raw ginger irritate it; more like when candida flares-up, that's when it gets sore.
Actually, I take slippery elm mixed with probiotics for soothing the gut wall.
So I'm really ok. The only symptoms I have from candida is just gut irritation or lethargy. These go away really easily since it seems my immune system is much more efficient.
I'm about to go onto a bout of oral chelation so as to improve some more, a protocole that I got from Dr Garry Gordon website. Oral EDTA, powdered vitamin C (to produce glutathione and support the chelation process), N-acetylcysteine, milk thistle (both for liver support) and raw garlic for mercury chelation.
I can let you know the improvements. Here's the article from which I drew my protocole. Very inspiring!

Hey Dechen,
It's great that you're able to control your Candida by cutting out simple sugars and using raw garlic and ginger. I actually find it's starches that are a bigger problem for me in terms of fermentation and associated symptoms like bloating. I can't have too many simple sugars either though as my blood glucose ends up on a rollercoaster ride!
Glad you are able to tolerate the raw garlic despite a sore gut. It has me bent over in agony as soon as it hits my duodenum area...alcohol used to do the same in the days when I could drink it. Alcohol obviously is irritating to the gut mucosa and aggravates leaky gut.
I've read good things about slippery elm but never tried it. Maybe you should become a herbalist in your new life
Interesting article, thanks for posting. Did you not have plenty of chelation during your treatment at SCNM? I thought all that had been taken care of? Still I guess it is good to do regularly maintainence since we are constantly ingesting more toxic metals and the like!
Good luck with the new protocol. Let us know how you get on with it.
What are you doing with yourself thesedays btw?

Hi Maff,
What I'm doing here is just working (I work for publishers), doing chigong and meditation and swimming. There's not much to do in Phoenix, Az. The heat is coming - serious heat over 100F (40C) so then you get a bit stuck with outdoors activities.
Getting the results of my Metametrix parasite testing this week and frankly quite nervous about that because if crypto is still around, I can't go through another round of fighting this. I'm ok when I sleep long; but if I'm a bit tired, then I get cramps and burning in my belly. So I just don't know what to think.
I'm also starting another bout of oral chelation this time; yes I did six months of IV chelation at the SCNM, but I find this is nowhere enough to diminish my toxic burden. At the end of the six months, the lead levels were higher!!! Which they explained by saying the provocation dosage had been higher or that more metal is coming out.
Still I want to see most metals leave my system - so I can go back to Asia and retox!!! Ah haha!
I am also preparing to leave Arizona. If the parasite testing is negative, then I should be outa here in a month or so. Going back to Asia.
Hope all is well with you though. One thing I was wondering about and you may have figured out is why does candida always come back? In the sense that at some times - well like now - it would be +3 or +5 on tests. But then, I do the diet, antifungals, probiotics etc. and bring it way down. Last year, after months and months of strong diet, it had gone down to +1. So what is the factor in our body that is missing and enables candida to always come back? At some times in my life, I would be in Thailand, eating a whole durian (extremely sweet fruit), or very sweet other tropical fruits with no problem. But suddenly, I get a bloody flare-up.
Like now. Actually, I didn't eat that much sweet. Only some ice cream once in a while, fruits, a bit of jam. But nothing like a "normal" person would still. It's as if you can never really get rid of this.
