If this new finding is correct, that may explain why probiotics have a hard time colonizing and implanting in the gut. It may be that you need implants that match your gut flora type. Like in blood transfusions, blood types have to match otherwise rejected.

I also think it's great that science (and the media) is catching on to the fact that it is not just genes that can strongly influence our health, but also our gut microflora. Great stuff

Although the naturopathic physicians around here are of the opinion that some of the probiotics do implant. A lot die, but some implant still. Actually, if I take them regularly, I eventually reach a state where I'm ok for a while without having to take anything.
