Re: Help!

Hi Siobhan - I am new to this forum and I saw your recent post and thought I would reach out to you. I have been through the Metamatric stool testing and the results did not tell me too much about what's causing my symptoms, but it did rule out some things so I was glad I got it done.

As far as the gut dysbiosis and leaky gut I found a book called the GAPS diet by Dr. Campbell McBride that enabled me heal my leaky gut. I highly recommend this book to anyone with leaky gut. The GAPS diet is actually inspired by the SCD diet that Clare mentions below.

The beginning diet is extremely strict just soups and boiled meat and certain veggies. I was also very limited in what I could eat because I had developed so many food allergies (30 plus different foods). In the beginning I did get constipated due to lack of fiber and my poor digestion. I did at home enemas and took magnesium which helped. After a few months following the intro diet I tested normal on my intestinal permeability test (leaky gut), my foul breath went away and my secondary symptoms began to subside. At that point I was able to add more foods without getting the dysbiosis symptoms back. I am continually re-introducing more foods. It is a very frustrating process, but hang in there and stay determined!

Re: Help!

Hiya
I had to have another stool analysis to check my beneficial bacteria and my levels had improved. I had a small bowel bacterial overgrowth test done as i was struggling when eating refined carbohydrates bread pasta cakes ect. it is a hydrogen breath test using lactulose.
I had a positve result so both my bowels are dysbiotic my large has not enough beneficial bacteria and my small bowel has bacteria which should not be there.
If you are struggling eating refined carbohydrates with blating and ditention then get the lactolose hydrogen breath test done.
let me know how you are doing.
regards
Clare
