How to find a candida doctor?

#1 2 years, 7 months ago
Hey Maff,

I tried to use the section \"Health Care Professional\" but got nowhere.

I just want to find a candida expert that I could go and consult (now that you talked me out of the Mexican clinic - oh and by the way, could you tell me which one you went to and also if they gave you a protocol and if you followed it).

See here in Toronto, we have Zoltan Rona. I don't know if he's any good.

So my next plan is, find a big candida expert in a warm climate and move close to there.

So let me know how I can use that section or if you know any candida expert.

And by the way, the fecal smoothie would be perfect I think. Just through the nose... And goodbye all forms of dysbiosis.

Also, Maff, I called again that Dr Mike Silverman in Ontario (the charming secretary told me - no way he calls back patients, no way I can get his email). Also for an appointment, wait till December. (Its also not next door to Montreal...) So I can't figure out if he'd do it for IBD.

Hi Dechen,

Apologies, the Health Care Professional directory is not the easiest thing to use - especially if you are looking for a doctor specializing in a specific illness like Candida. Unfortunately I don't have time to do anything about it at the moment.

I also need a Candida expert so we're in the same boat. I am hoping to see a Belgian doctor called Georges Mouton who lectured on gut dysbiosis and liver toxicity on my degree course last year. I'm hoping he will be able to help and if not at least point me in the right direction. He may be even be able to help in the faecal transplant area

Here in the UK we have the National Candida Society which has a list of doctors but I'm not aware of similar organisations in Canada or the US, sorry. Maybe you can contact them anyway and they may have contacts on the other side of the Atlantic.

The Mexican clinic I went to was Hospital Santa Monica in Rosarito Beach, run by Kurt Donsbach. A quick web search will reveal the clinic was shut down after my visit and that many charges have been brought against Donsbach. However, I have to say I don't totally disagree with the use of some of the treatments I had there (sauna therapy, hperbaric oxygen etc) and to be honest my stay was pleasant. I have no doubt MONEY is Donsbach's main motivator though!

It may be that I just chose the wrong clinic but they all seem to offer similar treatments and charge a fortune so this is why I wanted to warn you.

Sorry you didn't get any further with Dr. Silverman - typical of doctors not to want to speak with potential patients! They're too important for that

Post edited by: Maff, at: 2009/10/28 17:31

Hi Maff,

Well I am finding things around here - one biochemist, naturopath, nutritionist who is a candida expert (so they say, but his book is out of print). I'm seing him on Friday. I suspect he may be one of those \"raw foodist\" which icks me. I don't think a diet with exclusive raw food is healthy, and not the answer.

Got Zoltan Rona's book today and the types of therapies he advocates are quite reminiscent of what they do down there - in Mexico.

Dondsbach has a bad reputation (because someone died due to treatment there) and so has the one I was in contact with (International Biocare, who changed their name from American Biologics, because a kid died there too! He was suffering with a rare cancer, and the thing is, doctors there lied to the parents maintaining for months that the cancer was regressing - this is what I don't like).

The doctor I spoke to at Biocare was \"in a hurry\" seemingly, answering my very precise questions with vague responses. I asked for a specific program as to how they were going to treat me.

I agree with you, there is something to these treatments - IV oxygen, IV vitamins and minerals, etc. But it seems to me that they should be pursued for a long time.

It's just very very hard to get an idea.

Could you tell me if you saw an interesting decrease in your symptoms with the treatments given?

Meanwhile, I have an appointment with Dr Rona on friday the 13th; have to fly there. He seems to be very serious - he'll run the whole bunch of tests - CDSA etc. (it'll cost me thousands...) But then he may be able to pinpoint why it is I can't get over this goddamn thing.

Maybe I'll just never get better, who knows.

Post edited by: Dechen, at: 2009/10/28 03:07

Hi,

It's great that you are finding doctors and others who may be able to help. Just doing so and making appointments is the first step to a solution. I know that we have all seen many doctors before and are still sick but I truly believe we can regain our health!

I will have to check out Rona's book myself and add it to the site review section. Maybe you could write a short review?

Yes, I read a bit about what has been going on with Donsbach yesterday. There were accusations before I went to Mexico and before there was a death at the clinic but I like to judge things for myself. After being treated there I still feel at least some of the treatments are beneficial and the doctors, nurses and staff there were all great. Donsbach himself however immediately made me uneasy. He represents himself as a doctor and a big shot but has no qualifications to justify this. The fact myself and my sister who also went for treatment at the same time were harrassed for payment in full during our first week of treatment says it all.

I actually saw an increase in symptoms during my treatment there but they were the symptoms of Candida die-off I know all too well from my various other anti-fungal treatment attempts - so I take that as a sign the treatments I had were effective rather than being adverse reactions.

Good luck at your appointment with Dr. Rona. Please let us know how you get on. I know CDSAs and other functional tests are expensive but these are the tests you need to have to get a full picture of what is going on with you and hopefully work out an effective treatment plan. Orthodox medicine could run their tests on us forever and not come up with anything because they are not looking at the right things!

Stay positive, I am sure you can get better.

My current search-for-a-doctor story is that I have an appointment to see a \"qualifier\" at a low income clinic this Friday. Depending on cost/payment eligibility, I will then be allowed to make an appointment to see a traditional low income doctor. I've been taking notes from these Candida threads today, to spark questions I can ask and to request specific diagnostic tests, etc.

I'm sure the doctor in this sliding-fee scale clinic sees alot of flu, pregnancy/menopause and anxiety/depression.

How much do you want to bet one of those will be my \"diagnosis?\"

Well, it won't take a rocket scientist to rule out pregnancy!

Okay I shouldn't be so negative. After all, I believe in miracles. Maybe my town of 5,000 population has a doctor who will recognize my symptoms and run appropriate tests on tax payer's dollars.

I'm remembering the walk that bolsom56 took along the river....bolsom56, are you alright now? I think so, according to your last post which I read. I hope so.

p.s. I'll leave the subject of doctor-searching with this thought: When the money runs out and there is no more in sight, one gets the privilage of living (or die) on faith!

Dechen, can you tell me how I can get a job like yours? working from anywhere in the US? I'm looking for an online job that I can do from home on \"good\" days. Anybody got any ideas or contacts/referrals? I have to \"go\" to work! Thanks!
