Liver problems, after intoxication...

#1 2 years, 5 months ago
Hello, sorry for my English i from Spain.
I have the same problem friend, or similar, i explain it.
4 months ago, i was with 4ui gh and 100mg of oxandrolone. All perfect, but one day i ate accidentally, an pie of marihuana, mi liver broken: gpt 200, high bilirrubin, fatigue...
i began sylimarin and SAMe, perfect, in 2 weeks my gpt were at 70, i began with oxandrolone, but fail... fatigue...
I decide start with UDCA, and 2 days with it... fatigue, somnolence, anhedonia... but my gpt down to 30!! strange situation.
I left UDCA...
I decide start with sylimarin, it cause me, more fatigue and somnolence, SAMe: idem...
Folinic acid cause me somnolence, and same with dandelion and artichoke; all are choleretics...
Na-RALA at first worked extremely well, Fatigue go away; but now, te opposite
And now, im without all but in a day sometimes are fatigated, the modafinil at 200mg cause me somnolence!, and my orine turn very yellow and have strange odour, modafinil have and extensive hepatic metabolism, but not are too much hepatoxic, but maybe can alter bile metabolism?
I thougt in a posible deffect in bile acid synthesis, caused by UDCA, and combination with hGH that this can inhibit or modify some enzymes related to synthesis of bile.

but now last read this post i have more doubts about another mechanism for the bad function of my liver<br /><br />Post edited by: bladean, at: 2009/12/11 23:35

Hi bladean,

Welcome to the site. No need to apologise for your English, it is good and it is great to have a visitor from Spain

It sounds like you're not making the connection between your hGH and oxandrolone use and your liver problems. Hormones, particularly steroids such as oxandrolone, require a large amount of metabolism by the liver and deplete glutathione and sulphate - two substances vital for efficient detoxification.

It could be that these drugs were burdening your liver and the marijuana cake was the \&quot;straw that broke the camels back\&quot; as we say in England. This means the marijuana cake was not the only thing that contributed to your liver problems it was just the thing that finally caused noticeable problems.

I don't know if you have a medical reason for using hGH and oxandrolone or it's for body building but you should stay off them unless they are necessary and continue to use SAMe and perhaps phosphatidylcholine (PC). These seem to be the two most powerful supplements for liver repair according to research.

It is strange that going back on oxandrolone would cause fatigue as steroids generally do the opposite. On a dose of 100mg this would suppress your body's production of testosterone so I would expect you to be fatigued when NOT on oxandrolone due to testosterone deficiency.

Your situation sounds very complex and because of your use of hGH and oxandrolone I think it's important you discuss your problems with your doctor.

If you can provide more information about why you were taking hGH and oxandrolone maybe I can be more helpful.

Take care.

Hello,and thanks for the welcome
I used oxandrolone with hGH for bodybuilding yes.. Oxandrolone is a AAS oral, and have the particularity is an 17a alkylated; condition stressfull for liver; HgH is minimal toxic for liver, at therapeutic doses, but induce it to synthesise IGF-1. All speed up the function of the liver, for create an anabolic environment. I supose that my liver was worked at 100%, and the pie of marihuana did exceeded liver capacity, and disbalanced it.
I think that phase 1 and phase 2 are very involved in my problem, is for this that now, i can't tolerate nothing chemical with extense metabolism, make me tired.
R-ALA, SAMe, milk thistle, artichoke, soy lecithin all make me tired and sleepy; all are relationed with Phase 2.
Instead the caffeine even at high doses do not cause symptoms of toxicity (Phase 1 relationship)
I think the balance of my stages of detoxification is the key, but I have not yet found a way. (the withdrawal of oxandrolone and hgh are first what i did 2 months ago)
All my biological values (blood analyses) of my liver, and body in general are normal, this rule out a physical damage

Hello bladean

Doesn`t sound good with your liver.
A relative of mine developed hepatits and high liver enzymes for a prolonged time after working with some farmer chemicals...
But I may calm you,the liver is an organ which is at the one hand a very important one for the whole body but on the other hand it can also recover again well.

I am not a doctor but for the liver I recommend you to take zinc capsules (15 to 20 mg a day),some magnesium,B vitamins and l-gluthianone (not too much only the recommended daily dose)
I think it is also good for your liver to drink Chinese green tea but not too much.

Has Gilbert`s disease been ruled out in your case? (could be one possibly explanation of high bilirubine...)

I wish you good luck with your liver!

yours Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Welcome to the forums

Great point about the liver being an organ that is very capable of regenerating itself when damaged - so long as sources of damage/toxicity are removed. In Bladean's case I would say body building steroids would be a prime suspect.

Glutathione is generally reduced in liver disease (and in fact many chronic illnesses) but actually, l-glutathione supplements have been shown to be ineffective at raising blood and cellular levels as the glutathione is simply broken down by the digestive system.

Better supplements to raise glutathione within the liver include SAMe and phosphatidylcholine (PC) along with the B vitamins (B6, B12 and folic acid) as you mentioned since these help to recycle glutathione, as do vitamins C and E and alpha lipoic acid.<br /><br />Post edited by: Maff, at: 2009/12/19 23:49
