Hey All, found this wonderful paper on the MCS & the medical profession... It's by Pamela Gibson, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Psychology at James Madison University. \"Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, Culture, and Delegitimization: A Feminist Analysis\".
Like the title says... A feminist analysis, but I (a guy) can really relate to a lot of the frustration I get from doctors when it comes to MCS.
Plenty of good information and quotes for your doctor in here. Very interesting reading! Give it a look here:

Cheers!

Hi Bolam,
Thanks for pointing us to that article, very interesting reading.
Professor Gibson has kindly contributed a number of articles to this site in the past and has also pointed me in the direction of other helpful articles on multiple chemical sensitivity.
She is undoubtedly the leading expert on how MCS affects sufferers psychologically and also society's response to it.
I recommend Professor Gibson's book to those who have recently become chemically sensitive and other MCS sufferers who haven't yet read it. The book is called Multiple Chemical Sensitivity: A Survival Guide and is just that; a comprehensive guide on how to cope with MCS from managing symptoms and avoiding triggers to dealing with doctors and social security issues. Professor Gibson conducted a large survey of patients which included questions on the most effective treatments for MCS. The book includes the results of this survey which are very helpful.
For more information about the book as well as reviews see this page:

I never thought anyone from That Camp would ever be on our side. Maybe we should send copies of them as presents to doctors and government officials. The outright hostility of those to organizations speaks to a need that the doctors and government agents need some psychiatric intervention.
It is events like this that make me think the tide might be turning.
