Hello,
I am curious if anyone has done research on this topic. I'll explain my situation, and you can determine if it fits your symptoms. This research is all from 2010 and prior with some really neat stuff just this year.
Basically, when I am around a certain particle (unknown at this time) I have a sever reaction leading to ear issues, severe brain fog, and electrical pulsing, itching, and burning throughout my body. Oddly, and don't laugh please, buy my anus, ears, and brain fog were the worst of the symptoms. My anus between the months of October and November itch like no other.
I thought, how the heck could this be connected. I researched what nerves innervate the ear. There are two, the trigeminal nerve and the vagus nerve. I began seeking treatment for atypical trigeminal neuralgia but that had no impact. I then looked at Cranial Nerve 10, the vagus nerve. This nerve extends all the way down the body, to the heart, lungs, intestines, and anus. Could this be the connection?
Finally, I made the connection. Dr. Kevin Tracey from the Feinstein Institute talks about the connection. He says that endotoxins can land in our body and our immune system reacts by releasing TNF and other substances. This induces macrophages to start eating up the substance and other things reduce inflammation. However, if this process isn't stopped, our body can attack itself causing all sorts of other multiple organ system problems. Our vagus nerve tells us to STOP the process by communicating with the brain. That means, there is a connection between the brain and our immune system. This can lead to sepsis if this isn't stopped and you can google the symptoms of sepsis too.
Here is the point: During this season, my symptoms are out of control. And, I cross-contaminate my home, cars, clothing, leading me to a lifestyle of complete avoidance. I believe now, that I am inhaling an endotoxin and this process is taking place. Which, during the season in which leaves are falling, more bacterial or mod cell walls are in the air.
If you google Dr. Kevin Tracey and watch his youtube video, this will all make sense. Please take a look, and let me know your thoughts.
By the way, when your body starts attacking itself, nitric oxide is released (pall theory). I also think this research will be extremely important for people with toxic mold sensitivities. My goal is to stop the reaction from happening in the first place but treatment for the symptoms would also be amazing.

Hi,
Thanks for posting this, it's really interesting stuff.
As soon as you mentioned TNF I thought this would link in well with Pall's theory of chronic excess NO and peroxynitrite release...and as I read on I found you had already made this connecton
Interestingly, I have just been researching low dose naltrexone (LDN) and came across an online version of the book 'The Promise of Low Dose Naltrexone Therapy' by Elaine A Moore and Samantha Wilkinson which states that LDN, by normalising immune function, would be expected to downregulate NO and peroxynitrite production. A combination of LDN and the Pall Protocol would therefore seem a very promising treatment approach in environmental illnesses and Prof. Pall has reportedly said LDN would indeed complement his protocol.
I hope you find this of use. I'll be sure to check out the video and other information you mention tomorrow (time to relax now!).

Interesting. A suggestion regarding how to figure out if mold may be behind this problem: use a hygrometer to see if relative humidity correlates with your symptoms. If it does, mold is a good candidate. I've written about it here:
