Hi Alea!
This was discussed recently on the Immune list. No one had tried it, a couple of people were skeptical, a few others thought that there might be something in it.
The person who started the thread said that there was a group on Planet Thrive that was set up specifically to discuss it. I tried to find a direct link for you, but I think because I'm not a member, they won't let me in.

Hi guys,
I haven't tried the Amygdala Retraining myself so can't comment but have just added an interview with Ashok Gupta that Cort Johnson, a CFS patient and founder of the Phoenix Rising website, conducted.
The interview can be found here:
www.ei-resource.org/columns/phoenix-risi...training-techniques/
My personal feelings are that there is certainly some dysfunction of the amygdala in ME/CFS and techniques such as this may well aid recovery.....but most likely in combination with other interventions such as addressing infections, allergies and sensitivities, gut problems, hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies etc.
Let us know how you get on if you give it a go

Hi All,
I am doing the Gupta program and have not recovered after 7 mths. However I have been very sloppy with it at times....not doing it much for some weeks and then getting stuck in for the next 5. I definitely believe the Amygdala is involved in this affecting the Para and the sympathetic nervous system. The Para is in charge of detoxifying and it seems to shut down because the sympathetic takes over and runs the show keeping the adrenalin racing....hence all the symptoms. Trick is to try to get the Para working.
I would not have believed it was posssible to get better until my friend an architect was 13 yrs in bed...cooking on an electric ring beside her bed as she could not stand or take drugs/vitamins. Now she is practising her trade and been on 2 overseas trips in the last year. This is why I am keeping on with it.
I do feeel more content in myself using his strategies like his meditations as I know how to protect myself more and realise what is going on. I just live in hope.

I did some research. It sounds interesting, but I did a lot of stuff like this before and it was just a waste of time and money for me. It's sounds like it's based on fear and the subconscious. I don't think the program would work for me, but I certainly wouldn't rule it out if it seems like it would help you.
I found an article by Lucy Dechéne, Ph.D on the subject when I did a google search. She's definitively negative about it in humorous way, but she raises some good points.
