intoxication

#1 2 years, 9 months ago
Hello Matthew,
I have found a doctor (Hilu) here in spain who checked my blood by life anddried bloodtest:
1. bad circulation, red blood cells piled up
2. systematic candidiasis
3. auto immune disorder, attacking red blood cells
4. red christals, that comes from taking drugs (3 years ago I took only a few times but my system does not eliminate them)
5.adrenal stress (adrenal glands exhausted), liver is very slow and centralnervous system very much altered ( seen by bio -resonance)
Now apart from this I do seriously suspect a mercury intoxication, question 1 : can this be seen in the blood?
I have heard that candidiasis (as well as micro organisms) stick to chemical and heavy metal toxins and thus cannot easily be eliminated from the body.
I am doing the alkaline diet for 1,5 years, been eating 100% alkaline for months, drinking alkaline water, etc. but to no avail.
My condition is getting worse.question 2: Is there a way to eliminte heavy metals.
Sincerely, maui

Aloha Maui141 and welcome!

Bolam56 here with my 2 cents worth... (Matthew should be along soon).

Candida thrives on sugar (which you probably already know) but what I never realized is that it gives off alcohol (ethanol) as a byproduct, much like the yeast fermentation of alcoholic beverages. I believe has a lot to do with its harmful effects.

Continuous low level alcohol production/exposure burns through your bodies thiamine reserves, and thiamine is required for blood sugar regulation... Higher blood sugar means even more candida! Chronic low level alcohol exposure from candida overgrowth also ties in with a tired liver and CNS issues... Ahh the connections!

I'm sure you've looked into dietary protocols for candida control, but you might also look into helping your body deal with the alcohol candida adds to your body.

Thiamine is cheap, safe and easy to supplement... It should be noted that your body/gut can only absorb a milligram or so of thiamine at a time, so several small doses will do you a lot better than one large dose per day. It's best to take 1 or 2 B-Complex per day in addition to your thiamine as the other B vitamins will help thiamine do its thing. The B-Complex contains thiamine as \"thiamine mononitrate\", and I have read \"thiamine hydrochloride (HCL)\" is better absorbed and utilized. The thiamine HCL is harder to find, but it is out there (Solgar is one producer).

The very best thing for a tired liver is \"phosphatidylcholine\" or PC which is found in simple Lecithin! Again, you must take this several times per day for best results. There are concentrated PC supplements available also: polyenylphosphatidylcholine or PPC, (brand name \"PhosChol\" and \"Hepatopro\") that are more expensive, but you only need to take them once or twice a day.

A good candida suppression diet, combined with thiamine and lecithin/PC or PPC to help your body deal with the alcohol the candida generates should produce a noticeable difference within a month if this (candida) is your problem. This would be a easy way to rule this out and avoid difficult Heavy Metal chelation.

The Life Extension Foundation: www.lef.org/ is the greatest resource I've found for researching supplements that may help with whatever condition you may have... Type \"Heavy Metal\" into their search bar (upper right) and you'll see a six page article on the subject, along with supplements they have found to help. Here it is: www.lef.org/protocols/prtcl-156.shtml

These supplements I have mentioned are quite safe, even in large amounts; still, discuss them with your doctor before you try them in case he/she has any concerns.

Good Luck, and let us know how you do!

Hi Maui,

As Bill said - welcome to the forums!

Bill has covered a lot in his post, as he always does I do have a few things I can add however.

My own experience has taught me as Bill suspects that a lot (even most) of the symptoms and damage caused by Candida is due to ethanol produced as it ferments the carbohydrates we eat. But the story doesn't end there - ethanol is converted into an even more toxic chemical in the body called acetaldehyde. This is the chemical responsible for the symptoms of a hangover and causes significant tissue damage. Chronic intoxication with ethanol and acetaldehyde is sure to lead to liver toxicity and depletion of the enzymes which break down these poisons.

Some of the consequences of this situation in terms of symptoms include severe fatigue (alcohol metabolism blocks normal energy production pathways), headaches, flu-like feelings, mood disorders, and adrenal fatigue. Acetaldehyde is particularly toxic to the brain and nervous system.

Chronic ethanol and acetaldehyde intoxication not only depletes thiamine as Bill mentioned but other B vitamins (such as B5 required for adrenal hormone production), vitamin C (likewise), and minerals including zinc and magnesium, important for many biological functions such as immune function, blood sugar control, and energy production.

Your poor red blood cell health is likely due to folic acid and vitamin B12 deficiencies - which again may come back to the Candida issue.

I agree with Bill's recommendations of supplements completely but would add that many herbs that promote bile flow may also be useful for your liver e.g. milk thistle (silymarin), artichoke, dandelion, tribulus terrestris etc. SAMe is also proven in liver disorders but is expensive.

The problem is that if you have Candida continuously poisoning your liver taking supplements to support the liver is not likely to bring about great improvements. You must sort out any problems with the gut first. An antifungal diet and either natural or prescription antifungals may be required for this along with a quality probiotic - I recommend Culturelle or VSL#3.

To deal with adrenal fatigue I would recommend regular dosing (every few hours) of 1g vitamin c and 500mg each of panthothenic acid and pantethine (both forms of vitamin B5). As a significant bonus in the fight against Candida, panthethine is also proven to increase levels of the enzyme which breaks down acetaldehyde (aldehyde dehydrogenase). You might also consider licorice to raise cortisol and DHEA supplements - but these are best used under a doctor's supervision.

Again, agreeing with Bill, the Life Extension Foundation website is fantastic so please do have a look at that. Other good information on heavy metals and chelation therapy can be found at the Autism Research Institute website and at Mercola.com.

I hope all this is of some help and doesn't overwhelm you. Please come back to us with any questions if you need something explaining more.

Take care
