I am suffering from MCS at a somewhat tolerable level, bassically I have switched over to using only USDA organic products, and drinking purified water.
I can't be around any chemicals it seems without having my energy sapped, and a feeling of depression, for some reason these chemicals can also cause me to become extremely angry, which is kind of weird I know.
However, I think my onset of MCS can be traced back to my days as a body builder. I use to pump several chemicals into my body in order to get the max effect for excercising. Which included about 30 different pills (animal packs) and various testosterone boosters per day.
I believe what really hit the nail on the head however, was my abuse of the supplement form of nitric oxide which I took for about two years straight with bassically no phase off.I looked up the no/onoo cycle which had something to do with MCS and it got me thinking about a possible connection due to increased levels of nitric oxide. I have been supplement free for years now, but I'm still VERY intolerant of chemicals. Can't drink alcohol, eating dairy requires a lactaid no questions asked.
I also had a question about mouthgaurds since I grind my teeth. Does anybody know of the safest mouthgaurd I can get for a person with MCS, because there is no way I'm going back to having tension headaches. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi there,
Glad you've joined the forums but not so glad that you are also suffering MCS like a lot of us here.
It's great that you are taking positive steps by eating organic food and drinking purified water. Every little piece of the puzzle like that brings you one step closer to regaining your health.
Please don't think of yourelf as weird because anger is one of your symptoms - there is in fact an explanation. Most MCS research is pointing to it being a neurological condition in which part of the brain becomes hypersensitive to chemical stimulation. And would you believe it, it's the limbic system and amygdala that seem to be affected. These are parts of the brain the process emotion so when they go haywire after chemical exposures symptoms such as depression and anger are actually a logical (and common) result.
It certainly sounds like your body building regime may have been a likely initially trigger. It's good that you've found Dr. Pall's work on the NO/ONOO cycle and intriguing that you used NO for two years straight. The NO/ONOO theory suggests the body gets stuck producing excess NO and a free radical called peroxynitrite (ONOO) which is what ultimately causes symptoms. If you were filling your body with NO for two years and were susceptible to developing MCS anyway this may have thrown you over the edge.
Dr. Pall and MDs who agree with his theory recommend a range of antioxidant supplements to counter the NO/ONOO cycle and a number of MCS sufferers on these forums and elsewhere have reported some benefit from this approach.
I can't help you with the mouthguard I'm afraid but perhaps someone else can?

hi there
unfortunately the mcs forum on this website doesn't move altogether that quick put there are lots of people that drop in to read the postings even though they don't always leave a response .
This is the best site for mcs the internet period . It's easiest to navigate and devotes the most attention to the subject, my experience with other sites is that they are throwing in mcs as a value added resource to create network traffic but are not truly dedicated , and as far as navigation is concerned \" FORGET IT \"
I hope you find some friends online and hopefully more answers to your health problems ...
Cheers!

Can somebody give me more information on what Dr. Pall suggests to do in combatting the no/onoo cyle? I'm interested in taking the edge of this MCS crap. Also, I noticed that switching over to all organic personal care products allowed me to get off my anti depressants.
I think there is a connection, I believe the anti depressants were countering the negative effects of chemicals I use to use on my body. Once I stopped using those chemicals there seemed to be no need to use the anti-depressants because I wasn't feeling as bad.
