Hello,
What a wonderful website! I am new to the internet so it is great to find such a valuable resource.
I am a 50 year old woman (I don't mind revealing!) and have suffered from MCS for around 10 years but it has become much worse recently.
I am having trouble replacing my usual household products with safe and natural alternatives. I am using soap nuts for washing clothes which are great but I find I still need fabric softener or my clothes and towels come out too hard and rough.
Does anybody know of something that works as a fabric softener and is safe for people with chemical sensitivity?
Thank you in advance,
Mary

Hi Mary and Denise,
Mary - I posted your question on our Facebook page and a lot of MCS sufferers posted their suggestions. The vast majority agreed with Denise and said they used white vinegar and that it didn't leave a smell on their clothes.
Other suggestions included rolling up aluminium foil into a ball and throwing that in the dryer or doing the same with a tennis ball (although someone said this may rub the clothes up and I'm guessing damage knitwear). You can also get special laundry balls from various natural product stores I believe.

Hi all, I am new to the site, but I joined so I could reply to this post.
I have had terrible problems with fabric conditioners (I had severe MCS), I first tried surecare which you can get from Tesco, but even though it is unscented I still reacted to the chemicals in it.
I have used vinegar sucessfully and it gives lovely clean clothes, but I had to keep looking for another fabric softner as neither myself of my dogs could stand the static shocks we were getting from a lack of softner!!
I have finally founs one that I can cope with..it is by a company called Bio-D, it is widely available on the internet so do hunt around for the best price if you decide to try it. It looks like thiswww.biggreensmile.com/products/bio-d-fab...spx?productid=bdfab1
I really do hope this helps

I was going through these older posts and I'm sure you've already found something, but wanted to let you know that I have sever MCS and I use BioKleen all temperature laundry liquid and it rinses clean so your clothes come out soft and no need for dryer sheets because it does not contain any chemicals or synthetic anything. I've been using this for over a year and my clothes have never had static cling coming out of the dryer even in the winter. If your interested, the website is www.biokleenhome.com
