So I am in the process of moving..and any rentals that I am looking have new carpet..I am guessing thats going to be bad..but what am I to do? I dont work because of MCS..how can afford to change flooring ina new place..
I have found some rentals with wood flooring but they are in the city and I am trying to find a place in the country that I can at least sit outside..
This has been an exhausting year..
Can mold be making my MCS symptoms flare up? Because I live chemical free but some days I am in alot of pain..and my only symptom is the roof of my mouth being very irritated. UGH!
I am so tired and completely drained of this life.

Hi,
I just want to say that I understand, and I'm so sorry that you are going thru this right now. I'm single and out of work and now in debt because of MCS. I did find a place with hardwood floors and no charcoal grills, but it was no easy task. I will be facing a move the end of April because I have no job and can't pay the rent. I will have to move in with someone??
Where are you looking to live? Maybe someone knows of a place?
I also feel the same way. I am really really tired of the fight. I was going it alone and just recently got on line here and connected up with a support group. The women are all so sick. My heart breaks for all of us. It's such a constant struggle.
This place I currently live which has hardwood floors is in Arlington Heights, IL. I can't imagine this is where you are looking.... Not in the country. Wish I could get away from all this insecticide garbage.
I was wondering about mold also.
I can pray for you.....

I just remembered that when I moved in my older home in Crystal Lake there was wood flooring UNDER the carpeting. We just pulled up the carpeting.
If you are buying, you could check on that! The owner would know I would think, or he could pull up a corner and find out.

To Denise and to Lynn,
Yes mold is a very dangerous toxin...and pesticides are neurotoxic.. must be avoided. New carpeting no way! Hardwood floors or ceramic tiles are the way to go. There is an MCS yahoo group for housing that might be of interest to you.. mcssafeshelterusa. There are kits to test for these toxins. Once you find something suitable, perhaps an air machine or two can help with the rest.
I know it's a tough road we travel. Sometimes seems inhumane. Hang in there and keep up the good fight I surely can empathize.

Hi,
I am new to the site
I'm a Michigander also. Sorry to hear you are having problems finding just the right home. I can see where this could be very difficult. We live on a farm. I still have kitchen cupboards from the twenties. We have no carpet. I was so sick when we first moved in due to the old basement. My husband went to the effort to undermine the entire basement and put in a new one. Now no more mold and mildew.
As I mentioned to another subscriber, I have Fibromyalgia and MSC. It worsens ten times over once the Spring weather comes along. For many MSCers, outdoorsy weather is welcome, but for me, I have a terrible time with airborne allergens. I ache everywhere and my face swells up. If you haven't had allergy testing done, you may want to consider it.
We're almost neighbors:)
