Annie Hopper's Retrain your brain

#1 2 years ago
Has anyone taken Annie Hopper's DNR system training? It does make a lot of sense that the brain of MCS sufferers is more easily triggered to the flight or fight response because once we had a bad reaction to smells, our brains become more fearful of every smell. If we have addressed our chemical burden and eliminated it from our bodies, via nutrition, supplements, sauna's, healing the gut, etc. Then why would one still react to a single whiff of say perfume and have such a horrible reaction that it takes days to recover from it when overall we are healthier than we use to be? It makes sense that this pattern in the brain could be changed and one no longer have such a bad reaction.
What is your experience with the DNR training?

Hi,

I haven't tried the DNR system myself but you're right it does make sense - whether it works in practice for the majority of MCS sufferers is another matter.

Animal studies have shown that parts of the brain - particularly the limbic system which is involved with mood and autonomic nervous system function - can become sensitised to chemicals after acute or chronic exposure. This is likely what happens in MCS. Just because you remove the immediate sources of toxins this has done nothing to change the way the brain will react to them in the future once the damage has been done. It's not that we become fearful of smells either although this will obviously make reactions worse - the reactions would happen anyway because of this limbic sensitisation.

Annie Hopper's system is based on the concept of \"neural plasticity\" that shows the brain can essentially change itself according to the stimuli it encounters regularly - including thought patterns. My own feelings are that a combination of chemical avoidance, detoxification therapies, supplements/medications that enhance inhibitory neurotransmitters (mainly GABA) and techniques such as DNR is the best approach. The thing with environmental illnesess is - a single therapy/approach in isolation is unlikely to be effective. They require a more holistic approach.

Maff you are wonderful and I learn something new with every reply. Thank you! I have a DR. appt. next Tuesday and will ask him about DHEA and GABA. I also bought the I Can Breathe honeycomb mask and I'm now able to go to the store again. It's helping me get out again.

You're too kind but glad I can help I just wish I could reply to more people in more detail but I'm completing my degree at the moment and then have lots of clinical training to complete to become a nutritional therapist!

Is your doctor an environmental medicine doctor or similar? I hope so otherwise they might not be able to advise on those things.

I'm delighted to hear the I Can Breathe mask is helping you to get out and allowing you to go to the store again Some people find they need full face respirators but the honeycomb mask allowed me to go anyway when without it I'd react to the tiniest exposure so was trapped at home. You get funny looks from people but it's worth it for the renewed sense of freedom isn't it!

Albert Donnay from the MCS Referrals and Resources recommended my Dr. who practices EI medicine.
I do get funny looks also by wearing the mask, but I let as many people I know that I have chemical sensitivity and perfumes and fragrances make me very sick. I'm hoping to plant a seed in them so they might start thinking more about the chemicals they use and how they affect others. We need to advertise the dangers of these chemicals somehow and we'll never be able to compete with the wealthy pharmaceutical companies who make a lot of the chemicals. Their commercials are brainwashing people in believing their products are safe and needed and natural products do not work well.
Good luck with getting your degree. I know you will be a good nutritional therapist. You have a wealth of knowledge and a willingness to help.

My name is Tanja. I have developed chemical Sensitivities and electromagnetic sensitivities after treating my house with an insecticide spray in September 2009.

In my research for treatments I came across a lady called Annie Hopper who has cured herself of severely disabling chemical and electrical sensitivities, as well as Fibromyalgia through the use of neuroplasticity (which refers to brain’s unique ability to change itself). Annie now has developed the Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNR System), which is a neuroplasticity based treatment protocol that assists people in recovering from multiple chemical and electrical sensitivities, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue and Chronic Pain and Anxiety. She teaches the DNR System through three day workshops, mostly throughout Canada and the US.

I recently got in touch with her to see if she would be willing to deliver some workshops in the UK and Annie said she would be happy to if the interest was there. I am looking for interested participants for a number of three day workshops at the beginning of August 2010. The workshops are likely to take place in London and will cost approximately £830 per participant.

Annie’s DNR System has produced some great results and testimonies, which can be found alongside more information on her website

www.dnrsystem.com

She recently met up with Dr Norman Doidge, one of America’s most eminent neuroscientists and author of the book “The brain that changes itself”, which was the inspiration behind Annie’s treatment protocol. Dr Doidge said her work made a lot of sense according to everything he had learnt throughout his career as a neuroscientist.

If you are interested in taking part in one of the workshops please contact me on 07904-021-809 in the first instance leaving your name, your health background and where you live/a contact number.

I believe that there are some great opportunities for healing and recovery from MCS, EMS Fibromyalgia and other related and overlapping conditions.

Please pass this information on to anyone interested.
With blessings and all good wishes
Tanja
