Has anyone done the 18 day oxygen therapy?

#1 2 years ago
I was wondering if anyone has done the 18 day, 2 hrs a day oxygen therapy. Did it help with your MCS? Were you able to tolerate this? I used oxygen before and it did not seem to do anything for me, although it was only used as needed like after an exposure.
There is special equipement that is used like a hardwood frame and oxygen therapy bag, ceramic mask and tigan tubing. This protocal is used by Dr.William Rae. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi Karen,

Sorry but I've never used oxygen other than IV hydrogen peroxide as a means of detoxification and as an antifungal/antibiotic.

I found when my MCS was severe I could manage to avoid exposures by wearing my carbon filter mask.

Are you able to get hold of all the equipment you need for this protocol or are you seeing Dr. Rae or another physician for the treatment?

You might also be interested in an oxygen testing and treatment protocol developed by Albert Donnay of MCS Referral & Resources.

Hi Maff,

My Dr. suggested trying Dr. William Rae's protocal for 18 day oxygen therapy. My venous blood gasses were not normal. My PCO2 which I think is carbon dioxide in the blood was high and my PO2 was critically low which is oxygen (either in route to body tissue or from body tissue back to the lungs.) He thinks I will benefit from this particular oxygen therapy. Not sure if you are interested, although maybe other might be so here is an explanation:

Elevated venous blood values reveal abnormal tissue oxidation. This may be due to vasculitis and edema, which frequently produce capillary swelling. This irritation, inflammation and capillary swelling can cause vascular spasms. Thus oxygen is misdirected from its intended pathway into surrounding tissues. This can happen in the peripheral nervous system, central and autonomic nervous systems, gastrointestinal system, endocrine, musculoskeletal system and cardiovascular system. The goal of the oxygen therapy program is to reduce edema and inflammation, and open the vasculature allowing the oxygenated blood to travel to its intended organ system. Best results are achieved with 18 consecutive days of oxygen therapy. Sometimes less or more days are needed. This therapy using the special equipment will keep arterial blood values elevated to therapeutic levels during the 2 hour therapy. This should (I like the word should, I’d rather see the work will) increase the levels of the patient’s arterial blood gas and reduce the level of oxygen in the venous blood. This program in method, equipment and treatment time should provide optimum results. The ceramic mask with valves and the non-rebreathing cellophane bag has been specially designed for the chemically sensitive patient and milk grade Tygon tubing. Therapeutic results will not be achieved without this equipment used in accordance with time and levels of oxygen usage for the complete treatment period. This program is beneficial for those who show no significant improvement in their medical condition after undergoing other treatment modalities. Fatigue, fibromyalgia, cardiovascular abnormalities, gastrointestinal upset, visual impairments, neuropathies and musculoskeletal dysfunctions are conditions which should improve.

Maff, what do you think? Any comments on this?

I'm finding that every time I go to my Dr. he wants to try something else and he ends up making me sicker. Allergy shots I reacted to, Ultra Clear Plus program for liver detox was over 8 months of hell to recover and even today I’m not back to where I was before doing the liver detox. Vitamin B12 nebulizer treatment for my breathing made me so much worse it took four days for my lungs to recover. I’m afraid to try anything else so it would be great if others out there have done this type of oxygen program and would be willing to share their experience.

fyi, I was so hopeful with the I can Breathe honeycomb masks but after four uses, I am now reacting to it. So disappointing.
