Hi Folks, Newbie here looking for suggestions/help.
Safeway is planning some fairly major construction next door to where I live. I would move, but in addition to the usual EI issues there are some other issues that might prevent me from being able to do that.
(I can elaborate, and might do so in another post but since those issues are not really relevant to my question here I'm not going into them now.)
So while I'm looking for a place to move to (albeit without much optimism) I am also looking at how to make this place safe while the construction is going on (I don't want to be caught without options at the last minute!).
My thinking regarding making this place safe is to set up a positive air pressure situation, with the positive pressure being created by a filtered fan that blows air into the apartment.
Here are some details about my apartment. It is very small--about 300 sq. ft. Three sides of the apartment have windows--lots of windows. One side faces directly at the Safeway site. The site is visible from the other 2 sides as well. There are no obstructions between my windows and the Safeway site. The Safeway siite is located about 20-30 ft from my apartment. The apartment building is not insulated.
Does anyone have any information/knowledge about whether creating a filtered positive air pressure situation is do-able? And if so, either how to do it or where to look for resources?
Thanks!

Hi Frances,
Sorry to hear about your current problems. Your idea of creating a pressure gradient with the ir pressure inside your apartment being higher than that outside certainly sounds intriguing but I wonder if it would be simpler just to try to seal of the internal air from the external.
When you say your apartment isn't insulated does that include no double glazed windows? Even though you seem to have a lot of windows facing the building site, double glazing would do a good job of keeping pollutants out.
Since there will no doubt be large amounts of dust in the air outside your apartment I would also suggest changing out of your clothes as son as you return to your apartment from outside and wash the dirty garments immediately.
Just a couple of suggestions but hopefully someone will be ableto offer some advice on your original idea.
Good luck!
