iphone 4

#1 1 year, 3 months ago
I need a new mobile phone and I am wondering which is the best one to get. I've got my heart set on a iphone(the iphone 4) and I thought this may be better than other phones as it's made from stainlesss steal and glass. I'm particulary sensitive and my sensitivities seem to be getting worse. So I'm worried about the off-gas. Does anyone have any experience with the iphone 4 or any other mobile phone? Thanks xx

Hi Sam,

Likewise...Apple gadgets are a bit irresistable aren't they!

Good points about the iPhone being constructed from stainless steel and glass. They seem very well sealed as well so less chance of off-gassing from the internal electronic components.

I have to say that when I was suffering acutely from MCS new electronics were a nightmare. The fact they stink so much when you open the packaging is a clue as to how much toxic gas is coming off them. Having said that, a lot of this is likely to be the packaging itself.

I think the iPhone 4 is as safe a choice as any phone can be but to be a bit safer I'd let someone else open the packaging and get rid of it and then leave the phone a few days to off-gas a bit before using it (I know that's not easy when you want to play with it!).

Hope you're ok with it...and careful not to get addicted to Angry Birds

Hi again, thanks for the information.

Ye I love apple, I got my Mac a while ago and have never looked back. Unfortunately I have noticed that each time I go on my laptop today I get my MSC symptoms I'm not sure if the fan in computer is affecting me or if it's an aversion to electric. I've not read much about the latter sensitivity and each time I go on the laptop to try and read up on more information I feel wiped out and can't concentrate so I think I'm going to have to figure out what is going on before I can get a new phone. I'm pretty scared at the prospect of being sensitive to electricity. I'm housebound so my phone and laptop are my life.

Did you suffer from ES at all?

Hi,

Oh no, I hope you're not electrically sensitive as well. Phone and especially internet have been a lifeline for me too so I know how important they are!

I have thankfully never seemed to have a problem with my PC or other electronics although many alternative therapists and doctors have told me it is likely to be affecting me even if I don't notice specific symptoms. Hard to tell which symptoms come from what when you have so many isn't it

Check out this page. It has a link to a great site (Powerwatch) about electrical hypersensitivity if you are feeling up to more research - Electrical Hypersensitivity
