Re: Getting Gupta program but will it be enough?
Hi Lynn,
I think possibly if these illnesses are recognised and something like the Gupta program is used early it may be capable of bringing about recovery in some people. My reasoning is that it targets central dysfunction in the brain and thus potentially has the ability to correct dysfunction in all body systems - "from the top down".
When these illnesses have a chance to progress I think such programs are much less likely to be successful, certainly alone, as things like chronic infections, toxicity, and tissue damage start to become real issues. That's not to say something like the Gupta program won't still be helpful alongside other treatments to address these problems directly. Just my thoughts!
I have had mixed experiences with adaptogens. For example, rhodiola does nothing at all for me, ginseng is overstimulating, while licorice was great at first as it helped me get out of bed in the morning and normalised my body clock (as one would expect if it raised cortisol levels). However, it seems it has left me completely unable to relax...at all! I feel constantly like my body is compelling me to move and just can't sit still and relax. This is years after I used licorice and it still persists. I can only assume it altered my gene expression in some way to have such a seemingly permanent effect. As you say it also influences estrogen metabolism so something that should be used with caution!
Your adrenal saliva test results are good in one way as your cortisol levels follow the normal daily pattern i.e. highest first thing in the morning and tapering off throughout the day. Obviously not good to be low at any time of the day though! I suspect you feel ok early in the day but become increasingly drained as the day goes on?
I am different as my daily rhythm is completely out of whack. It is low first thing, climbs until lunchtime, declines until early evening, and then goes up again to a peak at midnight (not helpful when you want to go to bed!). My day is like a rollercoaster
I hope the Gupta program takes some of the stress off your adrenals so they can provide you with enough cortisol throughout the day. Sleep is so important for everything so hopefully it will help there too!
Good luck,
Maff

Re: Getting Gupta program but will it be enough?
Lynn, there a lot of discussion about this on yahoo's Green Canary site - I just put gupta into the search there, here's the link

but in any case I think Maff has summed it up very well.
