Multiple Chemical Sensitivity - Groups and Individuals Join Forces

#1 3 years, 8 months ago
This thread discusses the Content article: Multiple Chemical Sensitivity - Groups and Individuals Join Forces

My wife suffers from MCS and multiple allergies. He allergy list grows grows daily and we have just had tests that confirm tomato, chocolate, milk, eggs, strawberries and other favoured foods that have been added to the list. We are new to talking to other suffers of MCS and MA so if we make mistakes forgive us as we are going through a learning phase.
I as a husband am concerned naturally about my wifes health and an illness that she has no control over as new sensitivities arise some that may have very deadly results.
My main concern is the growing number of children who are suffering from allergies, we were at an allergist the other day and half the patients were children.
We are just locating groups in our country that may have similar interests as ours.
I know that this is a world wide problem and what is needed is a joint world wide attack to publicise that this is a very real and deadly modern environmental illness.
We needed the help of all suffers and their supporters, the medical profession and political parties.
The first move must come from the suffers and their supporters.
We live in Australia so if anyone has any information about groups \"down under\" we would be happy to hear from them.

Hi there,

Welcome to the forums here at The Environmental Illness Resource.

I'm sorry to hear about your wife's problems. Unfortunately it is a story that is very familiar to a lot of us. I agree entirely that a united effort needs to be made to prevent more and more people (children especially as you said) being affected by environmental illness.

There used to be a number of Australian groups with websites but their links now appear to be dead unfortunately. I would suggest however that ME/CFS Society (SA) Inc might be a good site for you to visit.

For international groups you might want to visit MCS International where Gordan McHendry is working hard to unite groups (including The Environmental Illness Resource) in his MICAGO initiative to raise awareness of chemical sensitivities and environmental illness.

I wish you and your wife thebest and hope you'll visit us here often. I'll post more Australian links as I come across them.

Hi again,

I received an email from a lady in Sydney who unfortunately was unable to get onto the forums herself but asked me to pass on the names of two Australian multiple chemical sensitivity groups:

Australian Chemical Trauma Alliance

Allergy and Environmental Sensitivity Support and Research Association Inc.

Hope these are of help to you.

Post edited by: Maff, at: 2008/09/03 19:04

G'Day Maff,
Thanks once again for the information. It is amazing just how much there is on the subject when you really start looking for information. There are the negative proponents but there are a lot of people who suffer from MCS and Mult Allergies and they are slowly becoming more vocal and stating their cases for a better environment for all of us to live in. As someone once quoted and do not ask me who. \"United we stand, divided we fall\"
Thank you to the lady from Sydney.
