I had a treatment several years ago. A dentist used it before he extracted a tooth. I had the treatment on 2 occasions. The tooth should have been extracted during the fifth treatment. The problem has been that I had a bad reaction on the second treatment because of desinfectant used in the rooms of the dentist. Therefore I was forced to stop the treatment.

My experiences: During the time of the hypnosis I felt a huge peace inside of me and I was relaxed. In my country it is used for persons, who have problems with local narcotics at the dentist. I think for that it is okay. I was able to understand everything, which the dentist said .On one occassion he said, that afterwards I will be able to eat everything. I thought, how irresponsible that remark was, because I have only a few things, which I can tolerate.

The days after the treatment I felt euphoric. I would not eat everything, which came my way, but I would take much more risks and that could have brought me into trouble.

To summarize it: It is like a "narcotic", which you use to overcome pain during a treatment, but it changes nothing in regard of MCS.

What may be another way is to learn meditation, relaxation methods...This way you are indipendent of another person and it may help your body.

I had a similar experience with hypnosis Talitha. It felt very relaxing and peaceful at the time and was an interesting experience but no long-term benefits. I was using it to help with my CFS and other helath problems.

I put meditation at the top of my list of positive things to have come out of 20 years of struggling with illness. It promotes health of body and mind but also enriches your life in ways that cannot be put into words...they have to be felt and experienced by trying it for yourself. The great thing is that meditation is free and can be practised at home!

Other things that might be worth investigating are Ashok Gupta's Amygdala Retraining and Annie Hopper's Dynamic Neural Retraining (DNR). A not inconsiderable number of former MCS sufferers put their recoveries down to these programs. Speaking as someone who has read about them but not tried them for myself I'd say they have a lot of potential and may have similar effects on the brain to the basic practice of meditation.

I found hypnosis to be completely unhelpful. It was another waste of money and time for me along with brain retraining (like the Gupta or Annie Hopper programs).

Are you considering hypnosis for relaxation or to help with MCS?

Hi there,

While I was going through my try anything stage when I was deperately ill housebound and alone with MCS. I was recommended a hypnotist.

Thankfully she was very sensible and would not treat me because as I was so certain and descripitive about the physiological effect of toxins on my body and what they did to me, that she was worried that any prolonged "mind over matter" would infact result in my conditioning worsening.

Thank God for her weariness in treating me as it transcribes there was a biological explanaition. . . my phase 2 detox was shot to bits not allowing me to detoxify properly. No amount of hypnosis could have correct that!

Personally I would recommend a nutrionist with an interest in MCS/Detoxification in the first instance.

I wish you well

Regards

Sarah
