Hi Anna,
You're not being paranoid at all. PVC used in blinds and numerous other items is toxic throughout its lifecycle and most applications require the addition of toxic chemicals including phthalates, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and toxic metals that outgas into the air and flake off throughtout the lifetime of the item.
You do not say how you are being affected by the blinds? Are you just worried about potential health effects?
Here is a useful website with a lot of information on PVC and health - http://www.healthybuilding.net/pvc/facts.html

Items manufactured from plastics always outgas volatile (and toxic) chemicals into the air, particularly when new. This is why new items have a distinctive smell - think "new car smell". The outgassing is increased by heat and light so obviously new PVC blinds that are in direct sunlight will be pumping out a significant amount of chemicals into your home - at least for the time being.
Particularly since you are trying to get pregnant I would say better be safe and get rid of the blinds. You could search online for healthier alternatives manufactured using more natural materials e.g. solid hard woods (non-painted/varnished).
