EU Parliament requests WHO recognise MCS & EHS
I don't know why this info wasn't 'out there' more before the deadline to lobby
our MPs, which passed in June:-
*In March 2012, the European Parliament published a Written Declaration calling
for the recognition of multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) and
electrohypersensitivity (EHS) in the International Statistical Classification of
Disease and Related Health Problems (ICD).
71 MEPs have signed a written declaration to persuade the World Health
Organisation (WHO) to recognise both these conditions in the ICD-11, which is
the new code of disease, due to be released in 2015.
Recognition of these conditions would ensure that all countries would include them in
their classification of disease. This would mean health inequities between
different countries should be eradicated and measures to improve rules
regulating air quality and exposure to electromagnetic (EM) radiation would be
affected globally.*

Re: EU Parliament requests WHO recognise MCS & EHS
Jodie -- WOW! This is the most encouraging step I have ever heard of regarding this condition. I sure hope that nothing stops it from happening. With the majority of the medical community (at least in the United States) completely unwilling to believe this condition could possibly be real, it is very hard for me to dare to hope it will ever change, but I sure hope for our sakes and the sake of all future generations that it does!!
Does this really mean that all countries will begin to look at this condition and the causes of it and actually validate it???
I am sorry for my ignorance, but what exactly is the EU Parliament?
I cannot wait until this condition gets the attention it deserves so that world actually takes steps to make things safer for al beings on the planetl. Frankly, I didn't think it would ever happen due to the huge reliance the world has on chemicals and making so much money off the use of them.
Thanks so much for sharing this!!

Re: EU Parliament requests WHO recognise MCS & EHS
European Union Parliament, countries that are part of the EU (including GB here even tho we're not part of the Euro currency) have most of our laws made for us by the EU Parliament. At the moment they are saying each EU country decides itself what to do about MCS, & GB doesn't officially acknowledge it, but I think all countries worldwide will have to acknowledge it and treat according a certain standard if the EU succeeds in convincing the WHO (World Health Organisation). I've only just found out about this myself. We need to get lobbying in the next few years, I'm passing this around as much as possible.

Re: EU Parliament requests WHO recognise MCS & EHS
oh %$*#, looks like they needed 360 MEPs to sign up for it by 12th June & they got 71 . Seems it's extremely rare to get enough MEPs to sign up for any of these declarations.

This has to be partly down to lack of publicity!! how come we didn't hear a whisper of this before ? Maff, did you? It doesn't seem to have been publicised at all! I only came across a mention of it by accident.
Well at least it will have raised the issue again and revived the debate..
>>A Written Declaration is the European Parliament’s equivalent of an Early Day Motion at the House of Commons. It is a statement of policy, sponsored by as many as five MEPs, which is placed before the Parliament for signature. Any MEP can sign up if they support the Written Declaration and would like it to become the official position of the European Parliament. More than half the MEPs - currently 366 - need to add their signatures for this to happen and it is rare for a Written Declaration to be successfully adopted. More usually, they simply lapse after three months but are used as way of launching or relaunching debate on a particular subject and, crucially, raising its profile with the media and public.>>
