emo Tooth infection - alternative to antibiotics?

I have a rumbling painful tooth, getting a little worse every day, apparently its on its last legs and should come out but they won't take it out w/out antibiotics. I tried my 3rd type of antibiotics this morning and had a really really bad reaction. Anyone got any ideas as to how to kick this infection w/out antibiotics? no one seems to know what to do with me :/

try a hydrogen peroxide mouthwash like peroxyl - or diluted peroxide (3 percent) you can get this online. Dont swallow it though!!!

Also if your not planning on leaving the house chew on a raw garlic clove in the troubled area - it will hurt like hell but will clean the wound. Cloves ( the hot spice) also have a similar effect. I have tried all of these, the peroxyl is the easiest they sell it at boots.

Re: Tooth infection - alternative to antibiotics?

Thanks! someone else mentioned this on another site .. they seem to use it for everything in the US, cleaning, mouthwash, washing clothes. Local chemist didn't have it, but I found it on Amazon :)

here's the long list of suggestions I've had so far in case anyone else is suffering..

Oil pulling:

use raw organic coconut oil and swoosh it around teeth and gums for 5-15
minutes, then spit it out and rinse well.
Coconut oil has various healing properties, including antibacterial and
anti-fungal.
Best to do this about four hours after you last ate (first thing in the morning
is good). After rinsing well, drink lots of water.
DO NOT SWALLOW THE OIL! It will be toxic from pulling toxins out of your system.

I can suggest several things. GSE (grapefruit seed extract) is natural and
powerful antibiotic-I use it for anything that would require antibiotics, with
great results. You can get it in a bottle of drops at any healthfood store (I
use NUTRIBIOTIC brand) You can take it internally, and use it as a mouthwash.
I also recommend swishing your mouth with food grade peroxide (diluted) as it
should kill off any bacteria on the tooth surface, where the GSE will take care
of internal infection. Colloidal silver is also a good antibacterial, you can
apply it straight to the tooth as well as taking it internally. You can also
google for info on "oil pulling" which is a great way to draw toxins out of your
body and is especially helpful for teeth.

You can also use baking soda by holding &
swishing it over tooth area for some 5 minutes at a time. Also FOOD GRADE
hydrogen peroxide will kill a tooth infection. I have used it to kill a cavity.
I used a mixture of baking soda and food grade hydrogen peroxide to completly
heal gum disease when dentist told me I would need gum surgery.

If it were me and couldn’t take the antibiotics then I would consider Advanced Cellular Silver and Advanced Cellular Glutathione plus some CoQ10.

There's also a long discussion thread on this here

Re: Tooth infection - alternative to antibiotics?

Incidentally, it seems minor infections underneath teeth/root canals etc DO NOT NEED ANTIBIOTICS. My third dentist in 2 weeks, they are going to take the tooth out w/out a-b's , however they have to let you know there is a possibility it could get infected afterwards and then standard procedure is a-b's.

If anyone wants to use peroxide for cleaning, mouthwash, laundry etc, the advice is Food Grade peroxide 35% - other versions are watered down with various chemicals, often. For most uses you need to then dilute to 3-5%

Here's where I found mine:

Re: Tooth infection - alternative to antibiotics?

NHS Guidelines since 2008 are only to prescribe antibiotics for tooth infections in certain limited situations..

Dental abscess - Management
Should I prescribe an antibiotic for a dental abscess?

>>In the absence of immediate attention by a dental practitioner:
Antibiotics are generally not indicated for otherwise healthy individuals or when there no signs of spreading infection.
Only prescribe an antibiotic:
For people who are systemically unwell or if there are signs of severe infection (e.g. fever, lymphadenopathy, cellulitis, diffuse swelling).
For high risk individuals to reduce the risk of complications (e.g. people who are immunocompromised or diabetic or have valvular heart disease).
Do not routinely provide repeat prescriptions or switch antibiotics in people who fail to respond to first-line treatment. Instead advise the person to see a dental practitioner urgently. >>

www.cks.nhs.uk/dental_abscess/management...ibing_an_antibiotic#

and are not even recommended any more as a prophylactic for infective endocarditis.. the evidence is you're more likely to die from anaphylaxis from the antibiotic..

Antibiotics have been offered routinely as a preventative measure to people at risk of infective endocarditis
undergoing interventional procedures. However, there is little evidence to support this practice. Antibiotic
prophylaxis has not been proven to be effective and there is no clear association between episodes of
infective endocarditis and interventional procedures. Any benefits from prophylaxis need to be weighed
against the risks of adverse effects for the patient and of antibiotic resistance developing. As a result,
this guideline recommends that antibiotic prophylaxis is no longer offered routinely for defined
interventional procedures.
For a discussion of the evidence, see the full guideline at www.nice.org.uk/CG064

www.nice.org.uk/nicemedia/pdf/CG64PIEQRG.pdf

Folks, I'm off today to have this thing out WITHOUT ANTIBIOTICS! wish me luck :-)
