Phospholipid exchange therapy.
This has been suggested to me as a possible treatment.
Has anyone had this, or know anything about its success or side effects.
From the information I have been given it makes sense. Injections of phospholipid and glutathione are given as a means to detoxify the system. This works by releasing toxins from the cell walls, by lipid exchange which in turn are mopped up by the liver via increased bile production.
Presumably this has a more rapid effect than taking supplements orally.

Hey Helen64,
This treatment looks exciting to me... As I state in my posts, I credit oral \"PPC\" or Polyenylphosphatidylcholine with fixing my MCS. I felt a positive effect within a month or so, but it did take 6 months before I really felt like I was on the road to a better recovery than I had ever hoped for. I'm at 14 months now, and am tolerating the disinfectants at work (medical field) and even the air fresheners in the rest rooms with little trouble at all now. I can gas up my car without feeling sick for hours too. I feel like it's a miracle cure, for me anyway.
I also took TMG (trimethylglycine) and NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine)to boost glutathione. I had read oral glutathione is difficult to assimilate, as any protein in your diet will react/deactivate it, but TMG helps your body to make its own glutathione. Injectable sound like a good way to go if it's safe.
Exactly what is it they are going to inject... Has this been widely used in humans safely? Will you need daily injections? Weekly? Is it I.V. or I.M. For how long? I'm curious about the treatment as I've never heard of it before, and I've been surfing the web for many months on the subject.

Post edited by: bolam56, at: 2009/02/18 08:26

Hey guys,
Thanks for starting this thread Helen. Phospholipid exchange is something that I came across a few years ago and have seriously considered undertaking myself. At this stage though I feel I need to get my gut health more in order or the benefits of the therapy wouldn't be permanent.
I came across phospholipid exchange as part of The Detoxx System developed by a team of independent doctors and researchers. Basically it involves using phosphatidylcholine, essential fatty acids, glutathione, and other supplements and dietary measures to repair the cell membrane of every cell in the body. This process as the name suggests allows the body to effectively detoxify itself. It is obviously widely accepted that environmental illness is caused by toxicity in the body.
In answer to Bill's questions:
1. Phosphatidylcholine and glutathione are injected while other supplements are used orally.
2. These are given as what they call a \"fast IV push\" which I assume is an IV drip given rapidly.
3. I think the frequency depends on the patient but certainly every few days to start with is mentioned in the Detoxx Book.
I think you'll both find the following of great interest:
The Detoxx System: Detoxification of Biotoxins in Chronic Neurotoxic Syndromes
The Detoxx System
The Detoxx Book
Also, I am aware of a guy in the UK called Ian Solley who I believe was healed using phospholipid exchange and other Detoxx techniques. He has been selling a book online called \"This Cure Works\" for a number of years now. His website is at http://www.thiscureworks.com/

hi Helen,
Can I ask you, who is offering this treatment?
I am keen to buy Phoscol from Nutrasal in the US, as recommended by Ian Solley.
It seems that many of our problems stem from Mercury.
I wonder which psychopath decided it was a good idea to put mercury in people's mouths?
Autism seems to have a direct correlation with mercury poisoning.......
cheers, Marcus
thanks Bolam once again for coming online to encourage us all ....

I think that Phospholipid Exchange Therapy (PLX) was crucial in helping me to start getting better. I'm still on the healing path, and I expect that I'll always have some problems due to the damage that has been done, but I'm expecting that I will soon be able to get back to work.
I've got some web pages about my PLX treatment if you'd like to read some more.
