Facial Skincare help please

#1 3 years ago
Hi there, this is my first post. I have chemical sensitivity symptoms. I have rosacea affecting my face and eyes (both the dry, sensitive types)and am having a very hard time finding skincare I can use. I had found a cleanser/ eye cleanser and moisturiser that I could tolerate on my face and both were reformulated (I react to the updated stuff).

I have a little of the stuff I am ok with but the race is on to find replacements.
I need something which will not just clean my face but my eyes also as they are raw until I clean them with the above cleanser (I don't have too much left)...
I know those with chemical sensitivity are all different and what works for one may not work for another but I'd love recommendations as a starting point.

For reference I do just as badly with natural stuff as with chemical-laden stuff. I can't use plain oils as they aggravate my eyes and rosacea!

I have another skincare question but I'll post it separately.

Thanks for reading... Shelbo

I use Oils of Aloha kukui scent-free cream. They have a scent-free cleanser, but I haven't had a need to try it. I just use water for my face because cleansers are too harsh. Rarely, I use Cetaphil cleanser or my shampoo (DHS fragrance free) if I really need too.

I have a bad reaction to aloe very and chamomile, so I know what it's like weeding through the natural products.

Here are the websites:

Cetaphil and DHS Shampoo are available on amazon.com

Calendula cream (it's the only thing I've found that helps with the itching and the redness)
www.nutritionsurplus.com/index.cfm/FuseA...CategoryID/1161.html

Mexitan biodegradable sunscreen (I use when I'm not inflamed and need to go out in the sun):

Hi Shelbo, I use Dr Bronner's Magic soap - Baby mild - Unscented - www.drbronner.com/DBMS/BAB.htm you can get it at Whole Foods or at any health store in USA -
I had a very bad case of rosacea for a very long time.......... i tried everything and nothing was working...... doing research I found a couple of things that I didn't know at the time that could help and my Dr never told me. First of all you have to test your urine and saliva PH (buy any strip test at any health store, whole foods, etc.) you are going to have and acid PH, for sure - so you have to address that - I did that by doing an alkaline diet that I'm sure you are doing anyway because you have MCS - you have to drink plenty of alkaline water, people with rosacea tends to be dehydrated, (a little baking soda in your mineral water to make a PH 7 or more is ideally or sea salt) but you can get all the correct info at the website where I bought the product to fight my severe rosacea which i highly recommend (i don't profit with that....) that cure my face!!! all gone! They are 2 mineral stones that were really magic for me. In their website you have all the info you need. an alkaline diet, all the info on drinking alkaline water and more lifestyle changes to treat your rosacea . Just by doing the diet and drinking plenty of alkaline water your rosacea will improve dramatically............. they also recommend just to hydrate and moisturize your face with 100% jojoba oil. I use the one from Desert Essence (Whole Foods). Is the only thing that I put in my face and body. It's great!! they explain how to use it too. They are against any antibiotic or other chemical treatment. You have plenty of info at their website! www.rosacea-ltd.com/
I attached 2 pics so you can see before and after!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope it helps......... Good luck!!!!<br /><br />Post edited by: Alea, at: 2009/04/30 02:15

Thank you both. I will look into some of those products. Can I ask whether you both have MCS and how bad it is? Oh, Alea, thanks for your help but I couldn't see your before and after pics. Would you mind uploading them again? :)I don't think I would do too well with those discs. I remember seeing those years ago and hearing they were drying. I have very dry, sensitive and reactive rosacea so I think they'd be out.
I would just love to find very gentle cleanser I could also use on my eyes (also afflicted by rosacea) and a good moisturiser...
I used to be able to wear mineral foundation but that now makes me sick...
Thank you both for your help. Hoping you'll see this reply since it's some time now that you both wrote...
Thanks, Shelbo
