I was so glad to find this forum tonight as I was researching MCS on the web! I look so forward to participating in this site and comiserating(spellng) with others like me.
I am a Multiple Chemical Sensitivity sufferer.
It gets harder and harder as the days go by. Perfumes do me in. I try to avoid them at all costs. Today I was having lunch with a friend and a couple set down next to us, and ya know, I had to move over at least three tables. It is embarrassing to say the least but I feel relieved after I move over to breathe 'cleaner air'. As clean as I can get it. LOL Most chemicals really bother me.

Hi cleanair,
Welcome to the site and forum. I would be the \"really cool guy\" exxfile was referring to. Thanks mate
Multiple chemical sensitivity is certainly one of the most distressing illnesses we could be lumbered with but you must have hope as myself and others (including some members here) have found it is not a life sentence. I was unable to go in my bathroom or kitchen or go out in public or have visitors without wearing a carbon filter face mask for a number of years. Now I haven't had a reaction in years and am able to go wherever I wish again without worrying. I do still suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome and other problems however so not out of the woods yet but I have hope that I'll overcome them as well some day!
Educating yourself is key to living with and overcoming MCS so read all the articles, research and other information here on this site and search the web for other useful information.
Also, if you have any questions or just need to vent then we're always here to listen and will do our best to give you some helpful advice
Take care and I look forward to seeing you around

Hi cleanair,
Welcome. As Maff mentioned, we do get to vent here.
I've done my share of that. When I first found this site a little over a month ago, I knew that I had MCS but couldn't explain my new, worse symptoms. Finally, I realized that I also have sensitivities to EMFs so I stay offline more often now. My cell phone is toxic to me too and I can't have a landline phone at this time. This disease can really effect ones life; I know from experience. I'm in the depths of it, but still hopeful.
I have vented regarding mercury amalgams too. Realizing the dangers of that in human teeth, and realizing it is in mine, was probably the scariest information I have learned during my illness! You can read other threads on this forum about mercury and its possible leading cause to MCS.
I'm scheduled on December 3rd to begin mercury amalgam removal. I'm scared to sit in a dentist chair, but with the support of this forum and other connections, I have become able to \"act as if\" I'm brave.
Stay in touch. There is hope!

Best of luck with the amalgam removal gr8tful. I'm sure you'll come through and be healthier than you've been in a long time.
As for being brave - I think \"acting\" brave IS being brave
All the best,

Hi exxfile,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm a little disappointed to read 'mcs people are few and far between' but not surprised as only recently did I learn the name MCS myself. I just know there are many people out there living with this and not knowing it has a name. Hey, I'll be sure to msg you when I'm bored.
Hi Maff,
Thanks for taking care of that problem we discussed. Your site is great and it is good that people can come here to learn more about their ills, vent or what have you. Glad you are doing better with MCS. You will have to tell me how your overcame this. Sorry to read about your other problems. Thanks for creating this site!
gr8tlife,
Thanks. I've been wondering about the effects of emissions from computer but did read a while back it is more prevalent with a computer when it is new. I have my laptop sitting on a coolpad that is supposed to help with the air circulation for the computer as well as cooling it down. Sorry about your woes with mercury. That is a bummer but I'm sure things will be a whole lot better for you after you have the fillings replaced. Keep us posted and good luck okay?
And speaking of mercury - a relative had a pneumonia shot and shortly after that, his kidneys shut down which then lead to dialysis. Two years later, he passed on. He was a very healthy man, never sick until then. It was said they thought he had a reaction to the mercury in the pneumonia shot. Scary, isn't it? I don't get flu or pneumonia shots, not worth to me.
