and the response that I was given by the receptionist is that my Vitamin D result is the only one that has come back - is this all I am waiting for? The result was 45.1 which was deemed 'normal' though the range is 47-144!!!! Can anyone explain this to me?

Hey, Thank you for your kind words. I have learnt enough through this illness to know that anything is possible - both positive and negative. I'm still confident positive will win out in the end! My big hope is to correct my problems at their root (imbalance of gut microbes) using a procedure...

Hi Can anyone advise me of a private dr in the South Bucks area where I can go and request some blood tests? Having had normal TSH and FSH bloods I would also appreciate advise on the following: What Blood tests should I request to rule out any hormonal issues i.e. I guess T4 and T3 but any...

Tsh is 1.40 and they have given me two cortisol readings, one of 1.35 and 3.35 . Strange thing is I don't know why the did the latter one as they said it had to be an am reading and they sent me away telling me to get a new referral form but hey ho! NO t4 or t3 done though. From what I...

Hi Certainly the symptoms you are describing point to hypothyroid. I had a similar result 6 months before I was finally diagnosed after a bout of flu that I just didn't recover from. I can tell you I had there symptoms for 6 years before the test result agreed with the symptoms. I don't tell you...

even if the bloods have come back 'normal' but a patient is displaying many of the other symptoms. Would appreciate hearing from anyone this has happened to. Excuse me for what might seem obvious and inane questions - I am just concerned to ensure that I have covered all bases in terms of my...

Hi Sandra, I've just read your post and I hope you got the result you wanted from your doctor? I have been trying to get GPs to listen to me for the last 17 years since I had a semi thyroidectomy as all my results have come back 'normal'. I tried 5 doctors and 1 endocrinologist over this time,...

Other than that though the other issues are still prevalent and having received the expected normal results my appt is this afternoon. Can't get definitve results til two when this section...

So sorry to hear about you having to have an appendectomy. Must have been quite traumatic and not what you needed on top of everything else! I hope you are recovering well from the surgery. I hope your doctor's appointment went well despite the 'normal' lab results. Fingers crossed for you! Let us...

Hi, Over the past year I have gained a stone and a half in weight - this is no mean feat for someone who is barely 5ft. When the weight initially started to come on I re-joined a weight loss programme, one that I had used succesfully before after having my children. Despite myself and them...

Yes this have been my experience too. On Levothyroxine for 10 years. At first I felt I had my life back and lost alot of the weight I had gained. Then I had a few stressful times in my life and a lot of the hypo sypmtoms came back (and the weight). Took me a while to work it out ,my GP couldn't...

I think I posted this in the wrong place just now! I have Dr Barry Durrant-Peatfileds' book and would like an appointment with him if possible. Is he still practising or now retired? I understand he used to have surgery in West Yorkshire once every 3 months (I am in York). If he is retired does...

Hi Sharon, I have just replied on the other thread but Dr. Durrant-Peatfield does hold clinics in Skipton - I'm not sure how often. I think his contact details in are the back of his book.

Hi Sharon, I actually met Dr. Durrant-Peatfield last autumn as he was the lecturer for one of my degree classes. I spoke to him briefly about his work and he did say he had a practice in Yorkshire. I believe it was Skipton. Only 30 minutes from me here in Harrogate! I think his contact details...

Hi petitpois, Welcome to the forums :) Can you let us know which country you and/or the units your results are in. They are a little confusing. If they are using the most common units it seems your TSH is extremely low while, your T4 can be considered normal, while your T3 is very high. Did you...

Ok, so, related to my last post, re. Graves' Disease... I'm wondering if my workplace might have made me sick. That and/or all the new stuff in my apt. The thing is I read several articles about PBDEs, which are in flame retardants, and which cause hyperthyroidism in Cats! And some humans. I...

I don't suit Matt and like to be different so that's fine with me! Ah it's good that the issues I mentioned are being addressed by your naturopath and that you...

Hi there, I have an autoimmune disorder called Graves' Disease. It causes hyperthyroidism. So, now they are getting the thyroid levels back to normal and some of the symptoms are vastly improved, and I'm so thankful for ths! :) However, I still am exhausted - in a recurring fashion. I get up,...
