Hi,
The best doctor I know of for thyroid issues in the UK is Dr. Barry Durrant-Peatfield. He trained with Broda Barnes in the US. He has contributed articles to this site and also lectured on my degree course so I know his work quite well.
Please see the following website for details of his clinics - http://thyroid-disease.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=63&Itemid=85
His book is a very informative read and will give you an idea of just how knowledgeable he is:
Your Thyroid and How to Keep it Healthy
Good luck!

I have Dr Barry Durrant-Peatfileds' book and would like an appointment with him if possible. Is he still practising or now retired? I understand he used to have surgery in West Yorkshire once every 3 months (I am in York).

Hi Sharon,
I actually met Dr. Durrant-Peatfield last autumn as he was the lecturer for one of my degree classes.
I spoke to him briefly about his work and he did say he had a practice in Yorkshire. I believe it was Skipton. Only 30 minutes from me here in Harrogate!
I think his contact details are in the back of his book if you want to make an appointment.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Post edited by: Maff, at: 2010/04/15 14:05
