I offer to be Dr Pall's student's case study! - 2009/10/30 02:07
If Dr. Martin L. Pall or any of his students ever read this thread, "I need help. Please read this and consider me. Thank you." gr8tful4life*
After three weeks of terrible symptoms as a result of living in an apartment with dry rot and mold, some of my symptoms have improved. I have reduced an 8.7 Eosiniphil count down to 1.0, and the burning, aching liver, stomach, etc. have almost completely stopped hurting. Plus, I've discovered an anti-fungal, non-gluten diet that I can tolerate so I get plenty of food (on good days). However, I still lose weight. I was overweight when this started and have lost 60 pounds, and most of the time I was housebound or in bed. This summer has been one of illness! Will I plateau now? I'm in a size 8 and I'm 5'7" so I shouldn't lose too much more. I am concerned that my body won't stop losing... The persistent symptoms remain are: pounding heart rate heard in my ears, sometimes rapid heartrate, 126 per minutes was the highest so far, ringing in my ears, sometimes "screaming" ringing in my ears, a feeling of "cotton" plugged in my ears, and if I'm around certain allergens/sensitivities too long, that feeling seems to "grow" and wrap around my head. I sometimes wonder if it is Candida in the ears...or worse.
I have been on an anti-fungal diet faithfully, no deviations since September 11. It took me that long to find out that one even exists and then get a comprehensive list of foods to avoid and foods that are a must. Fatigue seems worse now too, like my body gets tired of fighting the rapid heart rate. In the last couple of days, I have found some relief from the major sense of trembling, loss of motor control, lack of concentration, inability to make decisions, memory loss and feelings of disorientation. These symptoms may come from a sensitivity to electromagnetic fields. I have come to realize that these are all around my small rented "urban" house in a rural town. A friend is letting me spend the nights this week in her guest room and that seems to help somewhat. I unplug everything in my room but wish I could try unplugging her lamps in the adjacent wall to my room. And her big screen TV is next to the room (I avoid it!) so I can't be real specific when expecting complete avoidance. I've been there two nights and my insomnia is severe, but not as bad as when I was in my own bedroom in my own home. This friend has known me over 20 years; she knows something is not right. She is one of the few who trust me. What I need is a test to pinpoint the cause for these unusual symptoms. My doctor has mentioned the mercury in my teeth. I have an appointment with a dentist to get an estimate of repair but the charge is $350 for the initial visit. I called my brother and cousin to see about getting help and am praying for their mercy and favor. I will of course cancel the appointment a week before the date if no money. That way the dentist can fill the timeslot. I've been trying to find funding for this disease long enough to realize the practical chances of me getting the money (the rough estimate is between $2,500-$5,000). I would guess closer to the lower...
Over time, I have noticed an up and down trend. I'll take a supplement or vitamin or be in an environment for a few days and some of them help, but then I'll either get sensitive to something in the environment or the supp/vit won't work anymore. The dentist's assistant (phone conversation) said that is typical of mercury causing compromised immune function.
My medical doctor said I probably have an autoimmune disease but without money for tests, he can't say which kind. I am going to call Monday and find out how much he needs because if I can save up for that, at the very least I might be able to get on SSI with a formal diagnosis. As it is, I've sunk $800 in this doctor for two visits and he still can't give me a definitive diagnosis.
This is his observational diagnosis: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Adrenal Exhaustion, Hypothyroidism, and an unidentified autoimmune disease. My own observation tells me that I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and a growing sensitivity to electromagnetics. Since hearing the doctor's list, I've googled each term and am doing everything I know and can afford to support the body systems by way of organic foods and over the counter supplements.
I'm ready to submit myself as a "case study" for Dr. Martin L. Pall's students, if you/they have an interest in his research. I can come to Washington.......Also, I'm thinking about trying Dr. Pall's supplements. Do they work?
I looked for the term "mercury" in the index of "Explaining Unexplained Illnesses" by Dr. Pall and the term is not there. Does this mean that Dr. Pall sees no relationship between mercury and CMS, CFS, and other 'unexplained illnesses' or did I simply overlook it? One hopeful strategy that I do is to use one supplement for a week or two and then change to another. In other words, never give my immune system a chance to "figure out" it's enemy, i.e. healthy food/supplements. I was told once that a given supplement would work for awhile and then stop working. I didn't want to believe it but I'm finding the lady was right. So it looks like one has to keep the immune system guessing, or unable to predict it's healthy opponent. I feel like I am in a battle. My body wants to betray health, but I am forging ahead with more healthy food and supplements!
With fresher air, I feel encouraged to be relieved of burning lungs. I am so relieved now that I've borrowd an IQ Air Pro Plus; it only worked though when I turned on the ANION button on my small one-room Oreck air purifier. When I return the IQ, I need another unit!
And continuing on the subject of breathing: Another friend insists that I need a negative ion generator and it is a fact that I do well with the little Mini-Mate (around the neck) and also with a small one-room Oreck someone gave me--both negative ion generators. However, I sense a warning too. Perhaps a person just needs to use extreme levels of common sense, abiding by proper distance, etc. Does anyone know know about them? I think that perhaps if a person has a high quality home then the IQ Pro Plus would be the best. I love the IQProPlus but if one has nicotine residue in their carpet from prior tenants, mold spores in crevices and corners, under cabinets, etc. and automobile exhaust coming in the door, windows and cracks, well maybe I do need a Lightening Air Plus: http://www.airpurifierrepair.com/ (The onsite posted salespitch and customer service representative both lack the scientific verification that I usually like to read/hear...) Whatever I buy, I better be right; I've got one shot at it with this money!!! Any other money should probably go for a diagnoses and/or dental work. What do you think about the Lightening Air Plus? I am eating an anti-cancer, heart-disease-reversal diet that was set up by Dr Esselstein of the Cleveland Cinic Foundation, and merged it with an anti-fungal diet by www.knowthecause.com and www.barbhealth.com.
I hope Dr Pall and/or an interested student will help me because I don't have any health insurance. Allowing myself to be a 'case study' may help a student and me too. Thank you for considering my request. I would have put more time into this post but my symptoms are indicative of my need to get offline/off computer as soon as possible. I hope I have given you enough information. I'll be happy to answer any questions from anyone, so thank you for your reply. Please help. Thank you.
For anyone else who is sick, let's keep our passion for life! Love, gr8tful4life*

Hi gr8tful4life,
A little heads up if you're going to get those mercury fillings ground out of your teeth... I have read that the process of removing those fillings can release quite a bit of mercury which can be inhaled and/or swallowed causing a temporary increase of mercury related problems.
I thought you might like to take a gander at this web page which recommends some supplements for mercury detoxification.
http://www.healingdaily.com/oral-chelation/N-acetyl-cysteine%20(NAC)-for-detoxification-what-it-
is.htm
It seems N-Acetyl-Cysteine (AKA NAC) might be a good thing to obtain and try a few test doses with before you get those fillings out. As it states in the site, you need to take quite a bit of vitamin C with your NAC to keep it active and working. It is best to work your way up gradually with vitamin C in order to help avoid the loose bowels large doses of vitamin C can cause. By gradually increasing your vitamin C dosage, you can find what your "bowel tolerance" level is, and hopefully increase it.
Aside from the NAC and Vitamin C, it seems cilantro and garlic are good for mercury removal. He mentions a couple of exotics too... "chlorella" and "MSM" (methyl-sulfonyl-methane). I don't know if these are safe or not, but I believe you should have no problem with the NAC.
As always... Run these sort of things by your doctors and do a few small test doses before you try them!
Good Luck, and GodSpeed. B56

Re:I offer to be Dr Pall's student's case study! - 2009/11/01 11:00
Thanks so much B56,
As with most things there may be some differences of opinions as to the safest pre-removal detox protocol. A "health guide," Dental Amalgams Mercury Solutions (DAMS) has sent me an introductory packet and it states a different protocol for preparing for removal.
This is disturbing to think that one must research and make decisions when in a very vulnerable health level.
I have recently realized the extent of my sensitivity to electromagnetic fields so I am reacting even as I write. My own online research is limited now.
Anyway, I on 5000 to 7500 vita c and doing well on that, just started a multivitamin that has zinc (10 mg I think so that is a little low) and I just bought some Acetyl whatever that you mentioned but am giving the multi a few more days before introducing a new supplement.
This is the scariest health issue I have ever faced and since I studied "case studies" in my educational program, I am open to letting students interview and poke and prod, all I ask is that they also put good (experimental?) supplements in me. All the while though, I know now that I must allow a dentist to remove the amalgam. Yes I plan to have it done. (gotta keep laughing
I have appointments with two dentists and must decide which one if either one I will follow through with. Research....I must do more. Monday, I will call them with " interview" questions now that I have a list of questions that DAMS suggests one ask. Makes sense to do this.
Anyway, I want to come back to this forum (I love this forum!* and so if you write back, or if anyone writes, I really want to keep in touch with you!
B56, did you have amalgams removed? If so, what was your experience? I'm sorry if you have told me before and I may have forgotten. I hope your health is out of any crisis stage you may have experienced. It seems I read an earlier post of your good return to health!
By the way, one such contact, Mary (well, I should keep her name confidential at this point) but she is a national campaigner for the ban on mercury in the US and she lives in Vancouver WA. I was given her phone number by the founder of DAMS and also one of the dentists recommended that I talk with her. I did and she was most helpful. She sent me a packet with these websites: www.toxicteeth.org www.dentalwellness4u.com www.laomt.org or that might be www.1aomt.org plus she recommends Dr. Mercola
Oh my goodness, I just turned over her handwritten note for the first time and she lists several other sites plus another dentist to research.
Based on our phone conversation and her packet, her focus for choosing a dentist seems to be this: 1 Choose someone who refuses to use mercury in any patient for any reason. 2 Choose someone who has the expensive equipment to protect not only dentist and staff but patient also. This can be expensive and even some really dedicated dentists simply cannot afford it so we are instructed to shop around and protect ourselves.
Thank you for mentioning God in each of your emails. He will be with us thoughout the journey.
God be with you too, gr8ful*

I have been choosing gold for my dental work for many years now... Beautiful looking inlays but expensive! The only jewelry I ware.
Had a couple of old amalgam fillings that were eventually replaced as they broke down. Now I'm mercury free!
In choosing between your two dentists, I would ask about their suction setup... Some only have a "low volume" saliva sucker, and grind the amalgam into your mouth, where you rinse and spit it out. Others have a "high volume" vacuum hose that sucks the material being ground off, as well as any vapor generated out of your mouth, as it is generated.
The high volume suckers are around 1/4 to 3/8 inch in diameter, and literally suck like a little vacuum cleaner.
Good Luck, and GodSpeed! B56

Bolam56 is right - it is vital that you choose a dentist who has the equipment and knowledge to get as much of the mercury safely out of your mouth rather than letting it be breathed in or swallowed.
Research is inconclusive in this area but some studies have found a connection between amalgam fillings and total mercury in the body. This study found that removal of fillings resulted in body merceury levels returning to "normal" - http://oem.bmj.com/cgi/content/abstract/52/2/124
Your doctor may well be right with his diagnoses as all of these illnesses overlap. I myself have been diagnosed with ME/CFS, IBS, MCS, Candida/gut dysbiosis, adrenal fatigue....the list goes on. It is very important to get testing if you can to find the underlying problems in your particular case. I do very much appreciate how difficult this can be from a financial standpoint however. I have only been able to get such testing with a LOT of help from my parents.
With regard to Dr. Pall, have you tried contacting him directly about being a subject in any research he may conduct in the future in terms of treatment protocols? I have emailed him on a number of occassions asking for permission to publish his articles on this site and he has always responded quickly and seems like a genuinely nice guy. I'm sure you have already found his website but here is the link - http://www.thetenthparadigm.org/
