Autoimmune disease? - 2009/10/30 01:51 After three weeks of terrible symptoms as a result of living in an apartment with dry rot and mold, some of my symptoms have improved. I have reduced an 8.7 Eosiniphil count down to 1.0, and the burning, aching liver, stomach, etc. have almost completely stopped hurting. Plus, I've discovered an anti-fungal, non-gluten diet that I can tolerate so I get plenty of food (on good days).

The symptoms that remain are: pounding heart rate heard in my ears, sometimes rapid heartrate, 126 per minutes was the highest so far, ringing in my ears, sometimes "screaming" ringing, a feeling of "cotton" plugged in my ears, and if I'm around certain allergens/sensitivities, that feeling seems to "grow" and wrap around my head. I sometimes wonder if it is Candida in the ears...or worse.

I have been on an anti-fungal diet faithfully, no deviations since September 11. It took me that long to find out that one even exists and then get a comprehensive list of foods to avoid and foods that are a must. Fatigue seems worse now too, like my body gets tired of fighting the rapid heart rate.

In the last couple of days, I have found some relief from the major sense of trembling, loss of motor control, lack of concentration, inability to make decisions, memory loss and feelings of disorientation. These symptoms I think come from a sensitivity to electromagnetic fields. These are all around my small rented "urban" house in a rural town. A friend is letting me spend the nights this week in her guest room and that seems to help somewhat. I unplug everything in my room but wish I could try unplugging the lamps in the wall in the adjacent room. And the big screen TV is next to the room (I avoid it!) so I can't be real specific when looking for relief. I've been there two nights now and my insomnia is severe, but not as bad as when I was in my own bedroom in my own home. This friend has known me over 20 years; she knows something is not right. She is one of the few who trust me.

What I really need is a testing to pinpoint the cause for these unusual symptoms. My doctor has mentioned the mercury in my teeth and they do look pretty bad. I have an appointment with a dentist to get an estimate of repair but the charge is $350 for the initial visit. I called my brother and cousin to see about getting help and am praying for their mercy and favor. I will of course cancel the appointment a week before the date if no money. That way the dentist can fill the timeslot. I've been trying to find funding for this disease long enough to realize the practical chances of me getting the money (the rough estimate is between $2,500-$5,000). I would guess closer to the lower...

Over time, I have noticed a trend. I'll take a supplement or vitamin or be in an environment for a few days and some of them help, but then I'll either get sensitive to something in the environment or the supp/vit won't work anymore. The dentist's assistant (phone conversation) said that is typical of mercury causing compromised immune function. Does anyone have experience with this?

My medical doctor said I probably have an autoimmune disease but without money for tests, he can't say which kind. I am going to call Monday and find out how much he needs because if I can save up for that, at the very least I might be able to get on SSI with a formal diagnosis. As it is, I've sunk $800 in this doctor for two visits and he still can't give me a definitive diagnosis.

This is his observational diagnosis: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Adrenal Exhaustion, Hypothyroidism, and an unidentified autoimmune disease. My own observation tells me that I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity too. Since hearing his list, I've googled each term and am doing everything I know and can afford to support the body systems by way of foods and over the counter supplements.

I'm thinking about trying Dr. Martin L. Pall's supplements. Do they work? I looked for the term "mercury" in the index of "Explaining Unexplained Illnesses" by Dr. Pall and the term is not there. Does this mean that Dr. Pall sees no relationship between mercury and CMS, CFS, and other 'unexplained illnesses?'

One hopeful strategy that I do is to use one supplement for a week or two and then change to another. In other words, never give my immune system a chance to "figure out" it's enemy, i.e. healthy food/supplements. I was told once that a given supplement would work for awhile and then stop working. I didn't want to believe it but I'm finding the lady was right. So it looks like one has to keep the immune system guessing, or unable to predict it's healthy opponent. I feel like I am in a battle. My body wants to betray health, but I am forging ahead with more healthy food and supplements!

With fresher air, I feel encouraged to be relieved of burning lungs. I am so relieved now that I've borrowd an IQ Air Pro Plus; it only worked though when I turned on the ANION button on my small one-room Oreck air purifier. When I return the IQ, I need another unit!

And continuing on the subject of breathing: Another friend insists that I need a negative ion generator and it is a fact that I do well with the little Mini-Mate (around the neck) and also with a small one-room Oreck someone gave me--both negative ion generators. However, I sense a warning too. Perhaps a person just needs to use extreme levels of common sense, abiding by proper distance, etc. Does anyone know know about them? I think that perhaps if a person has a high quality home then the IQ Pro Plus would be the best. I love the IQProPlus but if one has nicotine residue in their carpet from prior tenants, mold spores in crevices and corners, under cabinets, etc. and automobile exhaust coming in the door, windows and cracks, well maybe I do need a Lightening Air Plus: http://www.airpurifierrepair.com/ (The onsite posted salespitch and customer service representative both lack the scientific verification that I usually like to read/hear...) Whatever I buy, I better be right; I've got one shot at it with this money!!! Any other money should probably go for a diagnoses and/or dental work. What do you think about the Lightening Air Plus?

I am eating an anti-cancer, heart-disease-reversal diet that was set up by Dr Esselstein of the Cleveland Cinic Foundation, and merged it with an anti-fungal diet by www.knowthecause.com and www.barbhealth.com.

Is anybody out there? Is anybody listening (reading)? What do you think about my symptoms, possible diagnoses, and purchase of a negative ion generator? strategy? hope?

I have identified that I have a sensitivity to electromagnetic fields so cannot browse the site much anymore, and I feel at a true loss for human connection.

If someone who has similar symptoms and/or knows of a site/blog/thread that I could quickly go to, I sure would appreciate it if you would direct me or share with me.

I hope you are getting better and remain healthy!

Re:Autoimmune disease? - 2009/11/01 09:28 Hi gr8tful4life,

Regarding your EMF (electromagnetic fields) issues and the computer... I don't know if you're using a desk top or a laptop computer, but if you've got a desk top with a CRT/"cathode ray tube" monitor (like a small TV), the bulk of the EMF is coming from the CRT monitor.

If you've got a laptop, or have access to one, I think these have a much lower EMF output than a desktop with a CRT. A flat screen LCD monitor should put out much less EMF than a CRT too if you could switch to one of these for your desk top 'puter.

The bulk of the EMF in a laptop should be coming from the "brick" or power transformer between the wall plug and the DC power input of the laptop. Position the power brick/transformer in the laptop line as far away from you as possible... Not on the floor right next to you. This should help.

Re:Autoimmune disease? - 2009/11/09 16:35 Thanks for the advice, bolam56,

I'm feeling better now. I had to leave the house and stay with friends while my 30 day notice is happening. So I'm giving away yet more of my belongings since my health is too fragile to pack, move, store, etc. stuff. Anyway, there was a transformer box on top of a telephone pole outside my house and I never suspected it. I still don't know if it had anything to do with me having Parkinson's like symptoms.

The power box for my laptop was at my feet with a small refrigerator plugged into it, along witht the laptop, of course. There were other things in my tiny bedroom too (since the nicotine residue in the living room "ran me out" of that living space, I began living only in the back of my small house) so there were stereo, TV, lamps, etc. etc. plugged in!
I never suspected invisible electrical "fields" could make a person sick!

Anyway, I'm going to follow your advice as best I can. I can't wait to find a safe place to live.

Be Well! Think Positive!
