I am still waiting for my Nature-throid to arrive but just to let you know of the information I have found at:  http://rlclabs.com/aboutUs.asp

RLC Labs, Inc supply Nature-ThroidTM, and claim that they provide the only hypoallergenic medication with a history of safety, efficacy, and consistent T3 and T4 content unmatched by anyone in the industry.

I can not wait to try it, if it works as good as the old Armour did I'll be happy but I have a feeling it may be better as RLC concentrate of providing thyroid care! Check out their web site for yourself.  If any one has tried it I would love to hear your views.  Denise

One of the biggest losses of function in T3 deficit is life itself, don’t take my word for it google Dr Lowe
Synthetic T4 should not an option on it’s own! The Nhs are killing us. We must not let them! Natural desicated thyroid is best! Denise

Hi Matt Seems box might be full again!
Hi Tina
Not sure if you got my message earlier? In response to your comment on the other blog?
It’s a case of trial and error. Before this illness I never took any drugs or medicines of any kind. I am a big believer in pressure points and natural options, I hadn’t been to the Doctor since the birth of my youngest and after my experiences over the last couple of years I really do think they are a waste of time. Only treating the symptoms and not the cause, and worse of all thinking they control you, by making you reach some stupid number on a pointless not even valid scale before treating you.
I always make my headaches go away by massaging my temples. I never take pain killers since I learned they can loose you your memory and only suppress your pain! The Osteopath if nothing else should be a relaxing experience, I also wonder could it be a food triggering your vertigo?
I have been considering doing yoga, but if not done correctly I wonder can it do you more harm than good. It’s a minefield, but as I feel so much better on the old Armour, I am sure there are more answers out there. Just need to find ‘em! Fingers crossed Denise

Hi denise! sorry not responded earlier, but after I saw the osteopath, he did a lot of manipulation on my neck and head, I am feeling better, but then he asked me about my health in general, I told him I have an underactive thyroid, he took my blood pressure, and it was (in his words dangerously low) 65 over 57! he said I had to see my Gp asap, because he suspects that mabe the thyroid is really not doing its job.......went to my gp (mine not there, saw locum) he sent me for blood tests for thyroid, liver, and sugar, had to fast for 14 hrs. I took my blood pressure a few times since and it was 85 over 60. when the gp took it it was 115 over 65, typical! so he says that is normal. anyway I am just hoping that by taking the Armour it has not buggered my system up lol! although I do feel better. have lost 5lbs in weight etc. the gp thinks I have labrythinitus, which affects the balance of the inner ear, and gave me some meds, stemitil, which just make you tired and drowsey, so I am Not taking that! took it some years ago when I had an attack of vertigo and it didn't work. oh well lets see what happens when these bloods come back. will let you know. take care.Tina.....still looking for answers!!!!

Hi Tina
Sorry to hear that. Please don't give up hope! You took that Levothyroxine poison for years! It is more than possible that your adrenals have been damaged as a result, if so you would need as course of Cytomel to address this problem. Sorry I don’t know where you can go to get help with this but I would ask to have your adrenals checked. I have learned so much, but I am also so very angry. People with this disease don’t look ill, so we suffer in silence. Levothyroxine causes so may other problems that I wouldn’t take it now under any circumstances, also please remember you got some of the new formulated Armour so you never got a true picture of how good it can get. I feel wonderful! I wish you could see the difference in me now from five months ago, but, big sigh………….
According to Mary’s site Armour is now unavailable. How strange there should be an abundance of it now as everybody is getting sick on the new formula and switching to something else. I think Forest know there’s a problem with it!
Armour gave me back my life! I hope, fingers crossed that Nature-throid works, but I will never go back to Levo-hell, no way, they would have to force feed me it. I felt like death warmed up and now I feel so alive, yet I am so disillusioned. It all comes down to BIG PHARMA and making a profit, we don’t count Tina! Please don't take any of those other drugs, the side effects out way any benefits. Take care Denise

Hi Tina Hope you are still following this blog I have read something very interesting There is a very common symptom called “white coat hypertension” it’s were patients don’t give true readings at their Doctor’s. It's best if you take your own reading to get a true rate because you really need to be relaxed! You also need to take a pulse reading to get a true picture. Hope this helps Denise

Hi Denise! I finally got the results of my bloods back on friday.
My tft test came back at 171, they said that is good almost in the middle. (apparently it should be somewhere between o.1 and 400)so the armour must be working even tho' its the new one. I will be trying the naturethroid when I next need to order medication. I hope it doesn't keep you awake too much and you get used to it, just goes to show tho' it has obviously speeded up your metabolism. The only other thing that cropped up in my blood tests was my glucose levels are up,(I had fasted b4 the test for 14hrs also) and my colesterol, so I have to see my gp next monday, dont know what he is going to suggest, maybe a more healthy diet/ (although i regard my diet to be very healthy). Hope you had a good weekend, I went to a barbie on saturday, and chilled sunday. it was such nice weather shame its changed. take care. tina

Hi Tina Glad to know something is working must be the T3 you've not had for so long. I was thinking of taking T3 on it's own but then read they have also made a synthetic version and I'd prefer to get the natural stuff, so not sure that I would now, unless Matt knows of a brand name for the natural stuff? Hope I get a good nights sleep tonight Yawn...... Denise

Hi both of you smilies/smiley.gif

Denise - it sounds like you may have to reduce your dose of Naturethroid. Being unable to sleep is a clear sign of overstimulation. I have the same problem taking any (effective) thyroid medication due to poor adrenal function (adrenal fatigue). It may be that the Naturethroid formulation is more potent than Armour or your body just responds differently to it.

Great point about "white coat hypertension". This is certainly something that affects me, and I'm sure many many others. As soon as a doctor pulls out the sphygmomanometer my heart rate shoots up and obviously my blood pressure as a result. I don't really know why really. I don't like the sensation of feeling my pulse in my arm for sure but it's a bit of a over-reaction. Anyway, it certainly intereferes with the readings.

Tina - testing of TSH in isolation is a very poor indicator of your true thyroid function. You need T4, T3 (and personally I'd recommend monitoring your temperature first thing in the mornings) to get a good idea of what is going on. A high cholesterol suggests your thyroid med isn't doing its job well as high cholesterol can be a sign of hypothyroidism. Perhaps you need to increase the dose?

I'd obviously discuss all of this with your GP and if possible a doctor familiar with the reality of thyroid issues - e.g. Dr. Lowe who Denise has mentioned.

Glad you both had a good Sunday. It's definitely been nice to have some sunshine...let's hope it comes back soon. I'm best man at a wedding this coming weekend!

Take care

Hi maff! thanks for that info, I shall discuss with my gp when i see him, regarding my body temp I actually took it out of curiosity one morning and it was 96.3 I thought that was lowish. and for years even if i have been ill with flu or something I never seem to get a high temperature, the same with my blood pressure, always on the low side. I have armour thyroid in the one grain and quarter grain so I may try increasing the dose by a quarter to start and see how i go. as many people say on this site it is indeed very much trial and error. so we shall see! take care.

This sounds like Dr Wilsons temperature syndrome to the rescue, it's were once you get your temperature up to normal you you feel better again. Guess what they treat it with Tina? T3! Just what you have not been geting all these years. Amazing! Matt I think my son has got me 2grains, because Nature don't do 1.5grains, so you just might be right! How do I divide a 2grain tablet into a 1.5 lol Denise

Also my temperature seems to be up, I was having hot sweats last night. Thanks for the info Maff, I can hardly keep my eyes open. If I divide the tablets in halves and quarters and take 1 half and 1 quarter is that 1.5grains Yawn... Denise

Tina - yes 96.3 is definitely a low basal temperature. If you get similar results testing every day for say a week it's a very good indicator that somewhere along the line thyroid hormones aren't doing their job! Like Denise mentioned Dr. Wilson bases his treatment of undiagnosed hypothyroidism purely on temperature measurements and treats with timed-release T3 medication.

Denise - that would explain it as you have instantly increased your dose by 25%. Yes if you take one half and one quarter that would be 1.5 grains like you were previously taking. Hopefully the Naturethroid tablets are easy to do that with! Good luck!

hi Denise you probably have a pill-cutter, if not get one very useful device, you can get them in the pharmacy, or even any vetinary surgery. otherwise trying to cut those tiny pills up is a nightmare! good luck. On maffs advice i will be taking my temp every day now untill I have to see my gp next week, its low I shall be demanding T3 lol! or mabe I will just up my dose of armour a bit and see how that goes.

Hi Tina.
Didn’t sleep well boiling up all night, must be getting more T3 than I need lol. Still feel like I am in a green house this morning. I do have a pill cutter and the Nature-throid pills are bigger than the Armour so not too difficult to divide. I had my usual dose this morning so hoping to get back to normal. I think tweaking your Armour dose should work, if you take too much you will probably notice it like I did so need to worry there. Denise

Hi Tina did you take the extra bit of Armour, if so did make any difference?
Well I've been taking the Nature-throid now for 5 days feel tirer than I did on Armour but no other symptoms, might be due to my wrong dose start. I will give it a few more days and see if the tireness improves. Denise

Hi there! yep! been taking the extra quarter grain for the last 3 days, and my temp was up slightly this morning, so it could be doing the trick, will see how i go for the next few days. I also ordered the nature-throid yesterday, ordered the one grain and the half grain, as when this armour is finished i don't want to re-order and get all the new stuff! (indeed if you can get it at all now!) I'm sorry you are not feeling as goodon this, but yeh it could have been to do with the initial low dose, so just see how you go for a few more days. fingers crossed. take care. Tina
