I can't believe it just as I am feeling great I get this awful, totally devastating E-mail bulleting from Mary

Check this out  Mary Shomon -  About.com - Thyroid disease guide.

They have changed the formula of Armour and it's making people ill, not working as good, apparently the new tablets are crumbly so when I get home from work to day I am going to see which they have sent me.

God this stinks! I will now have to look for an alternative, I could cry I feel so well and they are taking my health away from me God dam Forrest Laboratories!

Hi Denise,

That really is bad news but don't panic just yet. Armour is not the only product of its kind...there are similar thyroid extracts such as Naturethroid and Westhroid.

You could also use a combination of T4 and T3 medications, or maybe just T3 alone.

You have discovered that the answer is not T4 (levothyroxine) alone and that was the hard part! Stay positive!

Oh no! just when I thought the light was at the end of the tunnel! thinking about it I think mine are crumbly, because when I first got them I was taking half a pill at first, but it was hard to cut them with the pill cutter, they crumbled a bit, but I am feeling well so fingers crossed

Thank you, I know I have not exhausted all possibilities, I will find an alternative if I have too! May be I still have the old tablets, I will see if they crumble when cut, but I will have to wait until I get home to night, if they are the old ones fine and if they are the new ones I will monitor my symptoms, you never know, may be not everyone has an adverse reaction, after all only the people who do are likely to comment! Hi Tina,
My tablets look like the old ones they don't taste chalky or crumble and mine taste a bit sweet,I read that the new ones don't taste as nice (I take them under my tongue)use by date on mine is 10/03/10 I think the bottle may have changed too. I have over 150 tablets left so no panic just yet.I am looking in to altenatives. If you have got the new version I would love to know how you get on with them. After years of being without the T3, T2 and T1 I think you will still notice some difference. I will keep you posted and if I try something new I will let you know how I get on, there is no way I am going back to that black hole of Levothyroxine hell! The adventure continues Denise

Hey there denise! Ithink mine are the old formula too as they do taste sweet. I have about 90 of the 1 grain left and the same for the quarter grain. expiry date is 06/10 and 10/10. so fingers crossed. perhaps we should get some more quickly to tide us over as these will only last 3 months now. I suppose it also depends on the supplier as well. Anyway like you I am not gong back on that other poison! keep us all posted. Tina

Hi Tina,
Yes it sounds like you have the old stuff, I hope it's working for you? Please let me know, I am really interested in learning if it works as well for others.
Mixed weekend I had a dispute with an offensive neighbour over the phone about boundaries, thankfully he doesn't live there anymore, he now rents and lives down south. My life is never boring, but sometimes I do wonder why me! Thank goodness I now have the energy to deal with it!
Now the good stuff.... Friend came up from Devon and we had a barbie at her sons and I got to play with her lovely 17 month old grandson, I had forgotten how much work they are, also I have been told my eldest’s partner is expecting their first child, I m going to be an Nan! So positives greatly out weighed the bad.
I also ordered some Nature-thyroid to try,(it's from the same place)it's cheaper and may work I'll keep you posted. Hope you had agood weekend too! Denise

Natural thyroid users must stay on full alert now more than ever. It all about money and pressure from Big Pharma to eliminate any competition, there should be a criminal investigation. The same thing is happening with natural(animal)insulin,it all stinks to high heaven. It’s just so unfair, Natural is best! If only I didn't feel so well I could understand. What is it in today's world? Does money really mean more than people's lives, we shouldn’t have to fight for our right to health, especially when there are simple solutions out there that make us well. We are coming up against money grabbing zealots at every turn. We need to have courage, we have to resists our fears, we have to fight the system when it should be working for us. I'm trying to stay positive here, but having this illness as uncovered for me corruption that I never thought possible. I hate the injustice of it all! Denise

Hi Denise! couldn't agree with you more. let me know if you start taking the other one, I am still feeling great, better every day in fact! I have lost another 2lbs so happy. Glad you had a good weekend, ours was good too, had a friend from usa over
so lots of going out etc. Sounds like you are always busy. Neighbours ha! all mine are wonderful except one who blew his top when we installed a log cabin in our garden last summer so the kids could play pool, and table tennis. we had done nothing wrong but he went mad at us and called the local planning dept, who came down and said "we had done nothing wrong" so he couldn't do a thing about it. have never spoken to him since! I would never do that to my neighbours. don't worry about it! as they say "nought as queer as folk" this is true. take care. keep in touch. Tina

Hi Tina That’s fantastic news, does that make 5lbs in total! If I’ve given the chance of good health to once person, I am very pleased and it all been worth it! I just wish other people would try the Natural option, but not sure about the new formulated Armour, when the Nature-thyroid comes I am going to take it for a month and see if it works the same, if it does then no worries (65mg is equal to 1 grain or 100 of that Levo poison, don’t even go there!) I will let you know what happens, it’s so annoying when you have finally found something that really works, they go and change it! I used to love Galaxy chocolate but now I don’t care for it. So many things don’t taste the same and what is happening to our fruit it doesn’t have the same flavour any more. I had a favourite nail varnish and lippy they stopped doing it! If it’s not broke why fix it! But this is different Forrest are messing with peoples lives, I bet either the big boys have got to them, or possibly they get more money out of other thyroid products, it’s the whole world gone mad. Money really is the route of all evil!
The dispute is solved with the horrible nasty neighbour, Jason has been proven wrong and I am happy once more. Just need to sort this thyroid madness, but how? Denise

Hi Denise I took my armour 1 grain under my tongue this morning as I forgot to take it with a glass of water when I first woke up. The bad news is I think this is the new type that forest are making! last week when we spoke about it I tried the quarter grain that I have and it tasted sweet and did not crumble. The one grain I took this morning tasted chalky and horrid, and it was crumbly.( I take one grain a.m and a quarter grain in the p.m) At the moment I am feeling far better than I was on the levothyroxine, but am slightly dissapointed that the armour is not the original one, again I will see how my bloods come back next month, So far there has been no improvement on my hair falling out. It may still be too soon. not sure what to do now, I could try taking the whole dose from the quarter grain bottle and when that finishes get some of the Nature-throid. just have to see how I go. We had a busy weekend again, next weekend will be a quiet one, glad you sorted the neighbour prob. take care. Tina

Tina this stinks, I think the big boys have got to Forrest. I have E-mailed you the info from the Mary Shomon site about.com thyroid disease guide.
You need 65 of Nature-throid to 1 grain of Armour. I am still waiting for mine.
I have to ask have you been taking the new style Armour one grain all along? Is the bottle different? This may be why you are not getting the full benefits. The old stuff is much better, but the new stuff will still have the T3, T2 and T1 in it! I would say take the quarter grains of the good stuff or try the new stuff serperate to see if it makes a difference.
I just keep getting better and better! Which is why I don't want to take the new Armour, if it's true that it is not up to scratch! But I am not going back to Levo-hell. Let me know either way, take care Denise.

PS Tina, keep positive,if you have only been taking a quarter grain of the good stuff and already feel far better, just think how great you will feel when you are finally taking all the good stuff. My hair, my nails, my skin and even my memory are getting back to normal, but I have been on it (The good stuff Armour, old formulation) for 4 months now! As for Forrest, we will beat the money grabbing zealots, they will get their's and it will not be in Levo-hell! Denise

Hi denise, yeh, I have been taking that new style all along, both the bottles of the 1grain and quarter grain are the same! so they are obviously kept the packaging the same. I did get the email about the mary shomon site, and had a look it is very informative. i might try taking my dose of armour using all the quarter grain, to see how I feel. I have a lot of them, then I may try the Nature-throid. Let me know how you get on with that when it arrives. Yep! we certainly can beat them, (hopefully) take care. Tina

We can be them, and as for ‘Hope’ we have ‘No Hope’ if we don't try……. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, life is an experiment, we both know that the natural option is best and Levothyroxine is a no go area. Sorry you got some of the new formula, but you could always safe it for emergencies. We are both on the way to the end of the tunnel, no going back now Tina! We start by doing what's necessary; then we do what's possible, and then suddenly and surprisingly we are doing the impossible! Denise

Hi there Denise, I have been taking the old stuff, but as its only been a couple of days i don't feel any different yet, to top it all went to a yoga class last week one of themoves has caused me to have a horrible bout of vertigo! been suffering for a week now and have an appointment with an osteopath later. Gp will probably only give me some stemitil medicine which makes me drowsey, so doing some research on good ol google, people say try an osteopath. will see how I get on. take care. Tina
