Well I am very positive after nearly 2 hours with  a nutritionalist and has agreed and identified my toxic overload by a sympton question and answer (no surprises there then)  - but its  some one who understands,  is more than willing to help and gives me access to this all important testing.

Simple symptom question and answer has identified deficiencies in EFA Vits and Liver function, and Adrenals.

The first few weeks will be diet based reducing the bodies metabolic  load from caseine and gluten. . .and try and replace some nutrients naturally. In unison with this I will be recommended tests according to priority which we will discuss further on receipt of her report.

Liver funstion test concerns me as am extremely sensitive to caffeine and paracetamol and so am very wary, so I will  investigate quantities etc in the Genova test and make a decision.

Still have to get my head around a non quick fix. . .. .so many more blogs to follow and try not to bore myslef!

Hi Sarah,

Good to hear your consultation with the nutritionist was positive.

I found removing casein and gluten from my diet was a helpful move. Both, particularly gluten, really affected my mind and caused a lot of mood and cognitive symptoms.

I also had to weigh up the risks/benefits of the liver detoxification profile as I too am sensitive to the drugs you take during the test. I'm glad I had it done though, it really does provide very useful information that your nutritionist will be able to use to recommend supplements and dietary changes to boost your detoxification pathways and lower your toxic load - and improve your symptoms hopefully!

A couple of tests I would personally recommend to begin with would be the intestinal permeability test which looks for leaky gut syndrome and malabsorption and the adrenal stress index (ASI) which looks at levels of the stress hormones cortisol and DHEA throughout the day. The reason I'd get these done first is because they are the cheapest of these types of test and offer useful information that can aid treatment and give an idea if the more expensive tests might be useful. This may be something to discuss with your nutritionist at the next visit.

Good luck with the diet!
