What's the fuss about LifeWave patches?

LifeWave Patches I'd like to tell you about my experiences with LifeWave patches. After initial skepticism I can report that I am quite frankly amazed and excited by them.

For those who don't know, a company called LifeWave Inc has been promoting a range of skin patches, much like nicotine patches, which they claim have various specific effects on the body. For instance, there are patches for increasing

energy, treating pain, and improving sleep quality. The difference between these patches and transdermal patches such as those that give a dose of nicotine, is that the LifeWave patches are "non-transdermal", meaning that nothing enters the body.

So how do they work you might be wondering? Well you certainly wouldn't be the first to wonder. According to the product details for the Rest Quiet sleep patch on the LifeWave web site:

"Nothing enters the body. Rest Quiet is a new organic nanotechnology patch that helps you to relax without drugs. Research indicates that Rest Quiet helps the body's own natural meridians balance when the patch is applied to specific acupuncture points. This helps achieve a quiet, restful sleep and a great, energized day to follow."

So the patches work on the principals of acupuncture using nanoparticles to stimulate specific energy meridians? Not exactly clear is it? As far as I am aware nobody really knows exactly how acupuncture works (or doesn't) so how can a company manufacture a product such as a patch that works on the same system as acupuncture?

This perceived lack of clarity from the company about how LifeWave patches actually work has led to many being extremely skeptical about the claims made for them. Add to this the fact that LifeWave products are distributed using a multi-level marketing (MLM) system rather than through regular stores and what you have is a lot of very vocal detractors.

A quick web search on 'LifeWave' will reveal thousands of pages, half of which are sites promoting the patches, and the other half are "hoax" or "scam" sites warning people what a con they are. One of the most outspoken sites is World Wide Scam Network (WWSN).

At the other end of the spectrum there are a number of professional sportsmen and athletes who use the patches and heap glowing praise on them for the performance boosts they prroduce.

Like I said, I was initially very skeptical of the claims made by LifeWave. I like products I try to have an understandable scientific basis for their reported action. That being said, having Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for 16 years has taught be to be more open minded and not dismiss things without first having put them to the test. With this in mind I decided to purchase sample packs of the Rest Quiet and Energy Enhancer patches.

To say I was surprised by the results is an understatement. Not only did the patches do what they were intended to do, but they did it better than anything else I'd tried. For example, I have had problems sleeping for many years and have tried most of the remedies out there, both pharmaceutical and natural. Although many of these have certainly helped me get off to sleep, none have actually improved the quality of my sleep, I have always woken still feeling tired. Not so with the Rest Quiet LifeWave patch, after applying the patch to my temple I got off to sleep quickly and didn't wake until the morning. I awoke feeling the most rested I had felt for around 10 years! I have since bought full packs of the Rest Quiet patches and the effect is always the same.

The same goes for the Energy Enhancer patches. After applying the patches I feel a surge of energy which lasts the entire time I wear them and for some time after.

The patches are a bit expensive but I would certainly recommend you get the trial packs and see for yourself. LifeWave patches really could make a big difference to your life.

The usual start when you read a sales pitch from the LifeWave team. Seen it many many times.

Or perhaps a genuine account of my personal experience with Lifewave patches?

For the record I am NOT a member of the 'LifeWave team'. The only account I have with LifeWave is as a customer. In the case of people who DO join the sales team....is it so hard to believe that people would want to promote a product they have found helpful themselves? I have found that cultivating an open mind has opened up a host of opportunities that would otherwise have passed me by. My experience of life is much happier as a result. Perhaps this is something you should consider yourself.

"I have found that cultivating an open mind has opened up a host of opportunities that would otherwise have passed me by."

Another classic line from the LifeWave playbook.

Nothing new here.

I have not read any "LifeWave playbook" and my comments were from my heart and 18 years of experience suffering from chronic illness. I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome/M.E on my 12th birthday.

Edhuk has clearly already made his mind up and I imagine nothing I say is likely to change that. For anybody out there with a more open mind who is willing to try something before passing judgement, I can only repeat that I too was initially skeptical but have been very impressed with how LifeWave patches made me feel. The only reason I don't use more of them on a more regular basis is that I can't afford to! (My only gripe with LifeWave) For those who have more money than I do I would recommend you give them a try.

In the spirit of being open and honest with visitors to The Environmental Illness Resource I felt it was only right to add here that I have now opened a distributor account with Lifewave.

The reason I did this is mainly because I wish to use Lifewave products on a continuing basis and opening a distributor account (at a cost of $25) allows me to save approximately a third off every order making Lifewave patches much more affordable!

Due to the way the Lifewave company operates anybody wishing to purchase any of the products is required to supply a distributor ID from the person/company who referred them. I have therefore added my distributor ID:- 659618 to pages on this site which discuss these products (or you can go directly to the EIR LifeWave homepage - www.lifewave.com/ei-resource)

I too have been to various meetings about this product. My brother has tennis elbow from his type of work dealing with sheetmetal fabrications. Alot of lifting involved. Anyways the presenter used my brother as a demo to others. They placed the patches in a fashion on his inner elbow area. The outer patch to which can be placed at a circumference 12 or 3 or 6 or 9 'o'clock, was not placed on a pressure point or Accupuncture point. He felt a little relief. I know about pressure points so I corrected the presenter and placed the patch on the closest pressure point. My brothers pain was gone almost instantly. And no Im not registered with the business.
IM sceptical until proven otherwise...

I AM a lifewave member. I cant believe what these patches are doing for people. Very clever man who invented these patches.
Anyone who is sick (including Autism, Crohns etc, etc) should give them a go. I have personally spoken to two women who are out of their wheelchairs after years of MS and FibroM - they have their lives back - and they are still using the YAGE (Carnisine and Glutathione) The Glutathione patch manages to increase our own antioxidant to 300% - so why wouldnt it work?? Especially together with the Carnisine.., search both of these on the net and you will be amazed what health problems occure
with deficiencies of Carnisine & Gutathione. I have proved that these patches work - ALL of them. Want to lose weight - use them - they work. Do I want your business? NO

Have any scientific studies been performed using the Silent Nights patches? If so, what are the references for the published papers?

Hi Simon - a very good question. The information available in the LifeWave members area is scant. Most of the controlled trials on LifeWave patches that have been published have used the Energy Enhancer patches.

This is the material Lifewave provide regarding the Silent Nights patches in their members area:

"From June 13- July 1, 2005, a study of the LifeWave sleep patch called Silent Nights was performed at the Atlanta Sleep Center. The study involved subjects who were studied three nights, each one week apart. The first night was the control night, when the subjects wore no patches. The subjects were then given Silent Nights patches to wear every night on their right temple leading up to and during the two additional studies of the subjects. Nocturnal polysomnography (eight hours of comprehensive physiological data during sleep) was conducted. The parameters of a standard polysomnography evaluation are measurements of breathing, heart activity, oxygen levels by oximetry data and sleep state. The sleep study results carried out in Atlanta showed that the Silent Nights patch was effective in promoting sleep efficiency in all subjects."

"On December 13, 2005, Dr. Dean Clark reported his conclusions of Infrared Imaging of the Silent Nights patch. This study was written up for publication. Initial studies of the Silent Nights Patch confirm the findings observed with the energy patches resulting in the nervous system response by localized cooling of a hyperthermic region. An initial Infrared Imaging scan was done prior to placement of a Silent Nights patch. The Silent Nights patch was then applied to the temple region. Another Infrared Imaging scan was repeated in five minutes, the results showed significant thermal changes to the localized region and systemic changes in temperature were also apparent."

I'll let you make your own mind up about that. I am a big advocate of the scientific process but in the absence of sufficient high quality data I prefer to try things for myself than write them off - assuming safety has been addressed of course.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your reply. Its seems even in the members area they do not reference papers that have been published in noteworthy (ie of a reasonable impact factor) scientific journals, which suggests the studies you are referring too were not published. I think I have read of the Atlanta Sleep Center study in the past as being only a pilot study.

I also have an open mind but nothing replaces the scientific process, so its little wonder there is so much skepticism. I hope this will be remedied at some point soon.

My very good friend tried to introduce me to the Lifewave Patches. How can one believe that by simply applying 2 patches to your pain and your pain will greatly reduce within 60 seconds ?? Needless to say I polietly told my good friend to go away.
However approx 4 weeks later I pulled a neck muscle and was in severe pain; I went to my good friend and asked him to 'prove' his patches on my pain, he simply smirked a lot and placed the patches on my pain; moved them twice and my pain was completely gone withing 60/90 seconds. I was stunned. I did nothing further with my neck to see what was the result of using the patches. I knew what I should do, go to my naturopath and have my neck 'popped' back in, but I deferred this.
Approx 1 month later the pain wea returning, again I asked my friend to patch me and the pain was gone instantly. Even tho I was still skeptical I went home and logged onto his website and joined up.

SO NOW I AM A LIFEWAVE MEMBER and HAVE HAPPILY SIGNED UP MANY PEOPLE under my line.

I am 60y.o. have a bad back from a car accident, I suffer from Asthma since 3y.o. and if I drink the wrong beer or a cheap red wine can get terrible migraines... I use lifewave patches to relieve all my problems. Even stopped a GOUT attach. If any of you suffer from GOUT and take something like COLGOUT to relieve the pain you will know all about the terrible diarrhea that results. Let me tell you relieving GOUT WITHOUT the diarrhea was a God Send. I use the patches on my 86yo Mother, my wife, mother-in-law and our families ALL WITH GREAT SUCCESS... THERE IS NO DOUBT IN OUR PERSONAL SITUATION THAT THE PATCHES HAVE ENHANCED OUR LIVES AND WE HAVE GREATLY REDUCED PRESCRIPTION DRUG INTAKE... HOWEVER I will STRESS that the patches in NO WAY Replace professional Medical Advice and Proceedures or medicines....

NOW I simply Do Not Care, nor take any notice of the people who knock Lifwave and call it a scam etc etc ... If Lifewave is a scam then I and my family thank my good friend for 'scamming' us into Lifewave.

Have a look at this video.. http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=1a_iAQPVuF8

I am sure Joe and his wife dont really care about the opinions of all the people who 'Knock" Lifewave, His doctoor even bought patches from Joe....

I am Pleased to state I have and will continue to promote Lifewave and will gladley sign people up under me and will give them my complete support.
When I talk to people who DO NOT have any pain and only want to abuse the product I walk away from them. When I am talking to someone with pain I offer to see what I can do with their pain at NO COST or Obligation to them and if I help their pain THEN it is completely upto them what they want to do....

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO HARD SELL LIFEWAVE... Its all about Demonstration of the Product, Result and Then FREE Choice, FREE Decision.....

I thank my friend, Mick, for introducing me to Lifewave and I Thank David Schmidt for creating them. To all the people who declare that Lifewave is a SCAM.. well all I can say is I now have a new Understanding of what a SCAM is.... LOL...

Best wishes to you all,

Vincent

I herniated two discs in January of 2009 and was hospitalized for twelve days. There I ended up on heavy duty narcotics to control the pain so that I could achieve a minor amount of mobility. At that point they discharged me. I was using a cane or crutches just to get around. I was expecting to be in poor condition for quite sometime on drugs around the clock, just to cope.
Two days later someone introduced me to LifeWave and put the IceWave patches on the area of pain in my lower back. I did not notice any relief initially and went to bed skeptical. Well, the next morning, I woke, much to my surprise without any pain and I was pain free from that time onward. (without any drugs) I have since gone back to work at a physical job without any major issues.
On occasion I would experience a flare-up of pain and each time used the Ice Wave patches with the same positive results.
Once again, almost a year since the initial injury, I am experiencing pain in my lower back. Again, I am wearing the Ice Wave patches and am having great results. The back pain is gone.
A lot of people may be skeptical, as was I, but I would happily use these again, considering the results. I do not know why anyone would knock a product like this until they have tried it themselves, especially if it means they can have positive results and do so without drugs that have so many harmful results.
Those of us that know serious pain, will agree that this is worth it, no matter what kind of "business" setup it comes from. I for one, do not care if it is a MLM style business, when I am getting the results that I have had. I have my life back. Thats all that matters to me.
Try them and see for yourselves....
Cheers,
Angela

Well said, Angela!! and that is exactly my point. It annoys me that some people who are only focused on MLM companies and whether they are scams or not are confusing people out there with real pain and resulting in denying those people from possible relief. There is no "Magic" guaranteed result from the patches as we find some pains hard to patch and the inexperienced patchers can have failure results whereas the more experienced would have got a good result. This why I always share any successes i have with my team and equally my upline friends share their results with me. Just today I have learned the patching proceedure for a very difficult shoulder pain. This new innovative patching proceedure was first used in France, my upline used it in Korea, taken back to Australia and now shared with his team, me in Indonesia.

So the "Word" gets around and we all help each other. This is a great family, caring for each other and helping with each others pain. At the end of the day the patches will always work, you just have to keep working them around the pain. I keep getting asked will they cure Cancer... well of course not.. they do not "CURE" diseases, the patches are only 'triggers' telling the body that there is a problem.. the body reacts and repairs as best it can.

HOWEVER the patches are in NO WAY meant to replace Doctors or Medical Proceedures. For me they have meant pain relief, energy enhancement without ANY DRUGS or MEDICINES... and that suits me very fine, thank you.

I would be happy to discuss Lifewave with you, Vincent at patched4pain@gmail.com

Best wishes,

Vincent

I heart LifeWave. I am celiac and it never occurred to me to use the patches on my abdomen, but I just had an absolutely severe flare up. I got up and said THAT'S IT NO MORE PAIN. However, the rant alone did not work. I collapsed on my bed then realized I could try the IceWave patches (I use them for my back pain). I put one patch on my abdomen and one on my sternum. Within 30 seconds all the pain was gone. Unbelievable. Now I have a simple cure for my flare ups. I usually avoid taking any drugs or pain killers and just suffer through it. I'm glad I have a non-chemical solution.
In the meantime I was reading all these interesting posts. I can't believe the people knocking this technology. People having some scientific training now think they know everything that can and can't work. It's ridicules. I'm working on a Master's degree in chemistry, and I could easily make an argument based on my training that the technology doesn't make sense and I can see where these arguments come from, but they just come from looking at the problem from ONE perspective. If you look at everything chemically (or biochemically) you can only accept a chemical solution. However, all the advances in science have ALWAYS come from people taking a DIFFERENT perspective. In my courses, we currently accept the classical description OR the quantum description (for example when discussing NMR). People who are stuck in classical physics (mechanistic explanations) are just stuck in the dark ages. I don't understand why it's so difficult for people in America to accept a paradigm shift. It is sooooo ignorant for people to say something doesn't work just because they don't understand it. Of course they can't just admit they don't understand it...it's existence must threaten some part of their ego.

Hello Shay, good to see you are having relief with the patches. Considering your celiac disease: you could use the patches to directly unblock meridians in the intestines. You would need Energy and YAge patches. I could explain to you where to patch. Take care

Hi scam buster,

I am a little puzzled by your "wrong again" comment as we don't appear to have discussed anything in the past!

I obviously cannot comment on your assertion that the World Wide Scam site was shut down as a result of slanderous comments about Lifewave. What I will repeat is that I believe in having an open mind, assessing a product's potential value and safety...and then trying it for yourself. In my experience browsing scam and sceptic websites I get the impression the majority of authors and commenters have never actually tried the products they seem to spend enourmous amounts of time and energy attacking.

Maff,

If you think that Lifewave patches have a real effect on you or anybody else, then I'll bet you $5,000 that you -- or anybody else you want to use as the test subject -- can't tell the difference between Lifewave patches and placebo patches that I put together, just by feeling a difference in the effect they have on you. We'll put the Lifewave patches and the placebo patches in opaque coverings so that you can't see which is which, then we'll tape them over any place on your body that you choose, and based on what you experience, you'll say, "This one is a real Lifewave patch. I'm feeling a surge of energy like just like I told everybody about in my initial post" or "This one must be a placebo patch because I don't feel anything." After we've gone through 20 patches, we'll open them up and see which was which. We'll film the whole thing and put it on Youtube, including the cash being handed over. I'll even let you get 3 of them wrong. Won't that be fun?

Or try it for yourself so that it's double blind, and let us know the results. If you can't reliably tell the difference between Lifewave patches and placebo patches, you'll know that you've been had by the scam artists at Lifewave.

And if you don't want to try it, we'll know that you're probably part of the Lifewave scam, or at least, that you're not remotely interested in knowing the truth because it's more fun to believe in magic nanoparticles, pixie dust, and alien autopsies than to be bored or embarrassed with the truth.

Matthew,
Sorry you are having a hard time keeping up with this scam.
You stated the WWSN was shut down etc.
It is not.
Therefore you are wrong.
You are wrong about LifeWave patches being a real product.
Therefore, wrong again.

If you seriously believe that a person who conducts due diligence cannot have an informed opinion unless they try the product I have some arsenic that I assert will harm you.

Presumably you'll need to try it to see if I am right?
