Today I feel wonderful!

Long time no input, but things are going great! I have recently (in the last three months) made a fantastic discovery and I feel wonderful! In my opinion diet is one of the answers to our modern day illnesses.

I discovered that people with Hypothyroid can also have gluten or lactose intolerance. I have been following the Paleo(caveman) diet, the weight as just fallen off!  I also have a lot more energy and I am back into my pre illness clothes. It makes so much sense. The Paleo diet consists of eating meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, plants, nuts and seeds, but nothing that is processed, foods without modern food techniques, chemicals and preservatives. 'Simples!' It is based on the foods available to our hunter gatherer ancestors, foods found in nature.

For those who are not regular visitors to The Environmental Illness Resource, I am a 31 year old male from the UK and was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) in March 1991 around the time of my 12th birthday.

Recently my parents moved house and my mum dropped off a box full of old photos of me from my childhood. Looking through them I was struck by how happy I looked as a child. This was clearly the purest type of happiness borne out of freedom from worry and a true zest for life and the excitement of discovering new things every day. Naturally, it's easy and 'normal' to lose these things as we get older, but even more so when a chronic and misunderstood illness such as ME/CFS deprives you of many of the things that most people take for granted.

A Tylenol recall is the latest shame for McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson. Intentionality in changing our buying and cleaning habits is vital for protecting our well-being. In order to be stronger and live longer, we must choose to create a healing habitat that effectively eliminates toxins in our bodies and reduces the source of toxins in our environment so that restoration of optimum health can occur.
