TOPIC: Has anyone done DNRS and it worked

Has anyone done DNRS and it worked 1 year 1 week ago #1

Hi I'm new and terrified of how worse my mcs is getting from when it started about 8 months ago.
I have the DNRS programme but am scared of it not working. My MCS started after severe trauma from severe withdrawals from paroxetine. I constantly feel stressed and my body is still trying to recover from this 1.5 years later.
I hope you can offer support as I'm in the UK and unless I was rich I wont be getting any help from the NHS but need specialist help which I cant afford after losing my job when all this started.
Thanks

Hi Tracey!

Four years ago today I was at the DNRS training in Santa Fe so it's amazing to think back to how I felt then compared to now. Yes. I've done DNRS and it worked. Fear is the very thing that DNRS helps to overcome, so of course you are scared, but you have nothing to be afraid of. You are safe and you have a tool to use when you feel your limbic system ramp up. I called it a gerbil running on a wheel because that's how it felt in my brain. Maybe you can relate to that analogy.

After the training I practiced diligently every day for an hour, and when I was triggered. I purchased the DVDs at the training and watched them 3 times over the next year or so following the training. Each time I did it I felt a shift. It takes a huge commitment and determination, but you can do it.

I still practice, usually 2 rounds a day, just to keep my limbic system tuned up. I also do MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) meditation daily. I have also practiced other forms of meditation, yoga, mindfulness, etc. I’ve figured out what works for me. I don’t feel anxious and I’m able to do whatever I want to do. Life is great.

Other things that aided my progress were removing mold from my living space, getting treated for sinus fungal infections, and the realization that a traumatic experience played a huge role in the development of symptoms.

You will recover. Thanks for your post and for allowing me to share my experience. It is reassuring to look back on my path and think about how far I’ve come. I hope one day soon you will be able to do the same. In the meantime, don’t think about ‘it’. :)

Hugs,
Angie

Hello Tracey,
I bought both the DNRS and Guptaprogramme. I was slow to get to grips with the programmes for various reasons but I think also partly because of fear that if I tried and it did not work for me then that would be my hope of recovery gone. I did recover and am fully back into normal life. I read all the recovery stories and posts I could find to help me find the best mental attitude to recover and there is a lot off advice on the DNRS forum itself. I am sorry not to have time to write more here for time consuming personal reasons but I have posted about recovery in the past on forum.allergyuk.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1893&hilit=recovery&start=0
This will show you my first interest in brain retraining and how eventually I recovered. If the link does not work directly then go to www.allergyuk.org ,then go on to the forum and go to chemical sensitivity. Search Recovery and you should find the thread I started around 2011 under Recovery Stories.Do not give up hope.

Hi All, I just wanted to say first of all that I hope you're doing OK Tracey and that angdunn and BL's advice and successful experiences with DNRS have put you in a more positive frame of mind and given you well - hope! Thank you both for being there for Tracey when she needed you :)

On a personal note Tracey, I was housebound with MCS for 5 years back in the early 2000s before DNRS was conceived but I too am fully recovered and in actual fact I put this down to using many of the same techniques that form DNRS and the Gupta Programme e.g. meditation, NLP, EFT, various other stress reduction techniques. I won't list everything specifically but everything I did worked on the principals of neuroplasticity and retraining the limbic response as the two systems in question now do in a very focused way. This - and the many other positive reviews from angdunn, BL and others - is why I now recommend these systems here at The Environmental Illness Resource!

So, I hope you've been able to get a copy of the DNRS DVDs or attend a seminar and that you too join the three of us here in having recovered from MCS. There are so many negative voices out there stuck in a 'sickness' mindframe who will tell you MCS cannot be overcome and is permanent, but the truth is...you can recover and it will only persist as long as you take no action...so please do DNRS, or Gupta or even (if you don't have the money) just start learning meditation, stress reduction techniques, NLP, EFT etc...all of which are completely free...

Finally, just to pick up on angdunn's mention of environmental contaminants and triggers and mold being an issue - we're just starting a partnership here at EiR with a mold blogger named Catherine Fruechtenicht whose family was badly affected by mold-related illness. Her blog is called How to Clean for Mold and has some great information about ridding your body and your environment of this unwanted toxic imposter!

Wishing you all the best for an MCS-free future Tracey :)

While I don't know about this particular program the EFT and mindfulness deep relaxation are this I have found helpful though I did not pay for them besides buying a couple of books most I found for free online.
My first search on MCS cures brought me to a Utube video of a lady talking about curing mcs by detoxing the body and supplementing the detox pathways. She had actually cured herself using this approach. I think diet and supplements can make a difference. She followed a program by Dr Sherry Rogers. Since I am interested in a cure and not limping along I bought her books at prestige publishing and am currently reading them. I think avoiding chemicals detoxing and supporting your body via diet and supplements could be the deciding factor for some of us.
Since we do not have a true agreement on what works I am in the process of looking everywhere reading a lot of different ideas many detox ideas overlap. Dr Rogers suggests using and Fir sauna to draw toxins out of the body via the skin so you don't need to live the wd that would happen should you detox thru you liver. I like that idea.
Provocation - Neutralization testing for foods and other allergies is one thing I am looking for. So far all the doctors I have found in my area that do this sort of work have a two year waiting list.. still waiting to hear back from some others.
Many people have used this PN for molds and many other things.

After reading your last post, I think we are actually in agreement as to how to tackle MCS Sandy. I was avoiding chemical exposures as strictly as possible, eating organically and doing various detox protocols including FIR saunas and other methods recommended by Sherry Rogers at the same time as coming at it from the neuroplasticity / limbic sensitivity perspective. My go to book of Dr. Roger's is 'Detoxify or Die', which while having a rather over the top title, is in fact a fantastic source of information for those unfamiliar with the various detoxification methods available.

I would also point to Martin Pall, PhD and his nutritional protocol for optimizing the body's detoxification pathways. He is a renowned leading light in the field and the first academic to get what many medical professionals would see as 'alternative medicine' published in a mainstream toxicology textbook. You can find a full explanation of his MCS theory here and he also published a book laying out his full nutritional therapy recommendations: Explaining Unexplained Illnesses: Disease Paradigm for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, Fibromyalgia, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Gulf War Syndrome

Another body of work well worth a mention on the subject of detoxification and ridding the body of biotoxins that are proposed to cause, or at least contribute to MCS, is The Detoxx System developed and used in clinical practice by John Foster, M.D., Patricia Kane, Ph.D. and Neal Speight, M.D.. A detailed article by the authors laying out their nutritional detoxification approach can be found here.

MCS is among a hugely complex group of illnesses and unfortunately this means that treatment is often equally complex - but tackling it from all angles gives us the best chance of recovery. And as this thread testifies, there are many of us out here who have gone through this recovery and come out the other side free from MCS and able to resume living our lives. One final piece of the puzzle to my mind is...never give up hope!

Edit: I must just add that everyone should see their doctor to rule out all other possible causes for their symptoms other than MCS and always work with a doctor when using biomedical treatments. Be safe friends.
