Colostrum Hot

Colostrum

Colostrum is known as the 'first milk' and is provided by a lactating mother to her newborn child before milk production proper begins. Colostrum contains a wide range of immune modulating substances including lactoferrin, immunoglobulins, various growth factors, and transfer factor.

As such colostrum provides the baby's immune system with the "jumpstart" it needs to start protecting the body against the huge range of potential invaders present in the environment. Although we normally only receive colostrum for a short time in mother's milk, taking colostrum supplements (usually from bovine sources) has been shown in scientific studies to have a beneficial effect on the adult human immune system, greatly enhancing immunity and general wellbeing.

Colostrum may also help to increase the bioavailability and absorption of nutrients while helping to maintain a healthy digestive system.
