EC3 Air Purification Candle Hot

I write this review having used EC3 Air Purification Candles to reduce mold growth following a water leak. Needless to say, my wife and I have this product to thank in large part for quickly and easily reducing the resulting mold growth. We tested levels of mold in the affected room before and after using this product (as per directions) using mold screening test plates, so I'm reviewing based on objective evidence.

Just to give some background to what we were dealing with; the leak occurred in our home central heating system in our main living room following the addition of an extra radiator to heat a new room after building works. The frightening aspect to this was the problem resulted from a pipe "elbow joint" simply not being seated in its rubber seal correctly, then hidden away behind dry wall and skirting board (the lesson being, always test any plumbing works have been carried out correctly!). The pipe in turn was hidden by a large sofa, so we were blissfully unaware for an entire 12 months that water was soaking the wall and carpet every time we turned on the heating system. Obviously, along with the warmth and being shaded from sunlight, this created the ideal environment for mold to flourish...and that's exactly what happened!

We tested initial levels of mold in the room using EC3 Mold Screening Test Plates. It was of course expected, but still worrying to find 5 large colonies and 1 slightly smaller on the test plate. According to the manufacturer's ranking of health risk, we had probably become aware of the problem just in time. Their information explains 5 colonies represents a 'high risk of inflammation' to those especially sensitive to mold and its spores (my wife suffers chronic sinusitis), while 6+ represents a level of mold growth with a high risk of producing an inflammatory immune response in ALL individuals exposed, healthy or otherwise.

Having already thoroughly dried out the dry wall, carpet and all materials soaked by the leaking pipe (and used a dehumidifier), we immediately opened the pack of the EC3 candles we'd ordered along with the testing plates. As per the instructions we burned 2 candles (appropriate for the room size) for an initial 3 hours. We then proceeded to burn them daily for at least 1 hour (usually 2 or 3) for a week.

I had my doubts that simple candles could tackle what was a fairly significant mold problem but these were soundly quashed when after re-testing after just 2 days, the spore growth on the testing plate had clearly reduced to just a couple of small colonies. After that we left it until the week was up to do another round of testing. Remarkably, there was literally zero sign of mold on the test plate after following exactly the same procedure as before! I always like to have evidence any health product I am paying for and using is actually doing what it is supposed to, and there it was, the mold had been successfully eradicated.

Obviously, the leaking pipe had been quickly fixed and we have now had the dry wall and carpet replaced. Having literally seen how well these EC3 candles deal with mold however, we continue to burn them in the affected room every day or so and now also use them in other rooms also. My wife loves burning candles while enjoying a relaxing bath for example, so now lights an EC3 candle alongside her usual favorites...

With this product costing just $11.99, or cheaper still when purchased in multi-packs, value for money is as good as it gets! I am struggling to think of any other natural health product that could boast of protecting you from something comparable to the serious health problems posed by chronic exposure to mold at such an affordable price. Having personally spent literally thousands on products that simply don't work over the years, this product makes a truly refreshing change (which is what you'll have a lot more of in your pocket!).

While I no longer suffer from multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) as I once did (for many years), I would have been confident this product would not have caused a significant problem. Rather than petrochemical-based wax, these candles' soy wax and lead-free wick are much less likely to present any issues to chemically-sensitive patients (although with MCS, you can never be 100% sure without trying things for yourself with a 'sniff-test'). Natural botanicals are the only other ingredient but in all honesty I didn't notice any odor at all while using this product.

With customer service and delivery times being excellent, it's hard to find any fault with the EC3 Air Purification Candle at all based on my experience as described! I have given 9/10 for reliability/durability only because I feel they could be larger (they're only 3 oz.) so they'd last a little longer. That said, the small size makes them discrete and easy to store. Like I said, I'm struggling to find fault and admit I just don't like to give any product 10/10 across the board!

In conclusion, if you suspect a mold issue in your environment, are suffering repeated flare-ups of chronic sinusitis or unexplained symptoms of any kind, first consider mold being the root cause, then...consider EC3 Air Purification Candles...
