Retraining the Brain Can Transform Your Health

by Annie Hopper

Alena speaks to the audience like a prize fighter who has just won the biggest bout of her career. She is speaking about her recent triumph over a disease that has plagued her for over twenty years. It’s only been eight weeks since her miraculous health transformation and now she is excited to share her experience with others.

Alena had been struggling with debilitating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, light and sound sensitivities and headaches that would literally leave her unable to get out of bed. She would regularly awake with a headache and levels of pain and fatigue that were completely unbearable. It would take her two hours to get out of bed and move on with her day.

It was exhausting dealing with this level of illness all of the time. Alena said one of the most frustrating aspects of dealing with this illness was the unpredictability that went along with it. She would not know what tomorrow may bring, or the next hour for that matter. Like a flick of a switch, her health could abruptly turn from being able to tolerate life, to being completely disabled. This kind of unpredictability made it difficult for her to make or keep any commitments at all.

Making friends, along with keeping plans with friends, was an arduous task to say the very least. It was rare for Alena to find friends who could understand her personal limitations and not abandon her because of her inconsistency and the mistaken appearance of being unreliable. Alena would try to tell her friends time and time again that she really wanted to do things, but her body just wouldn’t let her. It’s challenging for others to understand when you have an “invisible” illness.

Well, you can only imagine the liberation and joy that Alena is feeling now that the entire world has opened up for her!

For the first time in her adult life she is experiencing what it means to live a normal life.

You see, Alena has been sick since the age of ten. She is now thirty one and has a lot of catching up to do. She has not known the luxury of having a state of health and energy that allows her to do the things in life that she has wants to do.

Intuitively, for a long time now, she knew that her illness was brain related. In fact she describes herself as a “self-made scientist” dedicated to searching for answers.

When Alena serendipitously heard about the workshop that I now teach called the Dynamic Neural Retraining System, she signed up right away. She reported that somehow it all just made perfect sense to her.

After reading how the workshop focuses on limbic system impairments in the brain that keep people stuck in a cycle of illness, and how this cycle can be stopped through neuroplasticity (the brain’s ability to change and heal itself) – she knew she had to try it.

By the end of the third day of the workshop Alena was experiencing a self reported seventy percent improvement in her health. For the first time in years she actually woke up without a headache.

Her journey of recovery continues to improve as Alena embraces her life with a newfound sense of joy and vigour. She reports that most of the time she is pain free and has the energy to do the things she wants to do. In fact, just recently she actually went zip-lining.
