In this category we publish articles on General Environmental Health which do not focus on a specific diagnosis. However, we have recently been contacted by a number of charities and organizations advocating for and supporting people, particularly veterans, affected by mesothelioma - a rare but virulent type of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos.
United States veterans account for nearly 30% of all mesothelioma diagnoses. Of all the branches, the navy was the largest consumer of asbestos-containing products. For this reason, Navy veterans face the highest risk of developing this disease. Mesothelioma and Veterans sadly often go hand in hand but thankfully there are an increasing number of excellent organizations on hand to help and we here at EiR will continue to publish articles relating to asbestos and mesotheliomain in this category.
