Intriguing Diet Plans to Lose Weight with Arthritis

Losing weight is one of the most significant challenges for many individuals, but it is even more stressful for people living with arthritis. Being overweight can have adverse impacts on how you feel and put you at risk of this painful condition. Weight exerts pressure on your joints and having excess pounds lead to body inflammation, a condition associated with both inflammatory arthritis and osteoarthritis. However, the good news is that you can avoid all these by choosing the right foods for your diet and include some exercise which will help you relieve the arthritis symptoms. Here are some effective diet plans to help you through the process;

Include Fish in Your Diet

Fish is a food rich in omega-3 fatty acids which enhance your joints stiffness and reduces pain. For perfect results, it is recommendable that you eat at least 12 ounces of fish per week. The best type is Salmon which has the highest amount of omega-3 fats, but there are other selections such as herring, codfish, Tilapia and canned light tuna which are great for muscle and joints stiffness. Moreover, fish is an excellent source of protein which is an essential for weight loss as it helps in muscles mass.

Do Not Avoid Walnuts

Walnuts are another excellent source of omega-3 fats, and if you have arthritis, this is the ideal way to solve your weight issues. Osteoarthritis is mostly related to joints issues and inflammation of the body. Taking plenty of walnuts helps in minimizing these symptoms. You can eat this food in different forms based on what works best for you. You may decide to add to your salad or mix it with oatmeal for intake.

Try Olive Oil

People who tend to have a high olive oil intake are at a minimum risk of getting arthritis, and you should consider joining them to reduce the effect of this painful condition on your body. However, weight loss is mostly about losing calories, and the fact that olive oil is rich in calories sounds ironical, but the amount of omega 3 fats found in it exceeds the effects of calories. Avoid taking too much of it. A tablespoonful or two per day is enough.

Fruits and Vegetables are a Must

It does not matter the kind of fruit you choose to take but ensuring that you include some vegetables and at least one fruit per every meal will do you good. These two are rich in vitamins, fiber, and minerals all of which are essentials for a healthy weight loss.

Avoid Processed Foods

Most processed foods, especially snacks such as chips are rich in unhealthy fats which are associated with body inflammation and increased body weight. Opt for other sweet foods instead such as fruit salad. Discipline, in this case, is a key.

Avoid Excessive Alcohol Intake

Compounds found in most alcoholic drinks have anti-inflammatory effects on your body, and anyone with arthritis should avoid or limit their intake. You can involve a health professional and let them decide what amount is right for you.
