Is It Possible To Juggle A Career While Studying To Be A Medical Professional?

Maybe it was your childhood dream to become a doctor, but life got in the way, and you ended up working in an industry that is not the medical field. Not everything is lost, though. You finally figured everything out and can eventually work towards becoming a part of the medical profession. But if you are already in the workforce, can you both work and go to school at the same time? But if you persevere in achieving your goal of becoming a doctor, obstacles will only motivate you more. Here are some tips on how you can seamlessly change careers.

Scout For Potential Networks

As soon as you decide to venture into the medical field, you can start scouting for possible avenues that can help you fast track your career in medicine. One such channel is a physician recruiter. They can help you land a job in the industry. Take note of what each recruiter can offer, and once you finish your studies, you can opt for the one that will have your best interests at heart.

Volunteer

To get a feel of what it is like to be working in your chosen field, start volunteering. You will learn a lot of things that you will not learn inside the four walls of a classroom. Volunteering in medical missions is one way of envisioning yourself as a fully-fledged physician.

Take Classes That Work Around Your Work Schedule

It can be hard to work while juggling your medical studies, but you can make it work. Enroll in courses with flexible schedules that will not clash with your work schedule. If you cannot give up your job to study full-time, working around it is very doable. You just need to have the patience, stamina, and dedication because it will be a grueling few years to finish your studies while working.

Why Do People Change Careers?

A lot of people in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and even middle age change careers for different reasons. You don’t have to get stuck in a job that may only put food on the table but not bring fulfillment or happiness to you. Here are some of the reasons why people change careers to entirely different ones from their current ones.

  • Their work is too stressful. The pay may be enough, but it cannot compensate for the stress levels that they put up with.
  • They are looking for better pay. They may have growing families, and their income is no longer sufficient.
  • They want to pursue their dreams. Many people are thrust into jobs that are not what they really dream of, so if they get a chance to change careers, they grab the opportunity.
  • They are aiming for work-life balance. Admittedly, many jobs require long hours, and workers no longer have a life outside of their job. They look for other careers that will help them provide a healthy balance between life and work.
  • The passion has waned. A time will come when the enthusiasm they used to have for their work wanes. If this happens, they look for other jobs that will re-ignite their talent, passion, and knowledge.

It is never too late to change career and follow your heart’s desire.
