2017 Was the Year of Positive Salary Trends
While many jobs seem to be stagnant at the moment in terms of salary, nursing home administrators certainly found the opposite to be true in 2017. A report titled Nursing Home Salary & Benefits Report 2017-2018 took a close and thorough look at the field and the salary trends. Now what makes this 3% increase even more exciting for those in the field is the fact that 2016 also saw an increase of 3.78%. That's almost 7% over a span of two years. This very positive trend is something that caused a fair amount of excitement in the field.
And it wasn’t just nursing home administrators who enjoyed a salary increase in 2017, nursing directors also saw an increase of 2.6%. In 2017, nursing home executive directors had an average salary of $130,389, up from $127,262 in 2016.
These increases alone may be enough to persuade more into enrolling in the doctor of nurse practitioner programs available across the country.
What About Career Opportunities?
So, with salaries on the rise, the next logical question is to ask about career opportunities. It seems as though the good news just keeps rolling in, as experts such as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) deem that nursing home administrators have excellent opportunities right now.
The fact of the matter is that the population is aging. As these baby boomers continue to age they will need more and more healthcare and the need for more nursing homes and staff will increase.
