How To Deal With Coronavirus Anxiety: 4 Ways To Stay Healthy And Positive

Love One Another

Today, coronavirus anxiety spreads as rapidly as the pandemic itself. Indeed, you’re not the only one constantly worrying about the news and your health. Fortunately, there are several essential tips that can help you to manage stress and stay calm and positive.

     1. Protect Yourself And Others From The Pandemic

Living in a time of massive upheaval, you should focus on the things you are able to control. You cannot stop the coronavirus outbreak, but you can take steps to prevent its spread and reduce your personal risk, as well as the risk to unknowingly infect other people. Here are some ways to protect yourself and others from the pandemic:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for twenty seconds.
  • Get a hand sanitizer containing at least 60 percent alcohol.
  • Respect social distancing and avoid touching your face.
  • Stay home as much as possible.
  • Avoid all non-essential contacts and shopping.

     2. Understand Your Anxiety

While entire cities and even countries continue to shut down, people can’t stop wondering, “What will happen next?” Indeed, it’s difficult to handle such uncertainty regarding tomorrow. However, there is no need for overwhelming panic. Instead, we should try to manage our mental health during isolation and:

  • Stay connected with people: call, text, or connect with your friends and family on social media.
  • Stay informed - but avoid checking the news 24/7.
  • Educate yourself on your anxiety or talk to the doctor (you can even try virtual appointments).
  • Try some relaxation practices like deep breathing or meditation.

     3. Practice Self-Care During Social Distancing

Disruptions caused by the coronavirus often lead to stress, anger, and other negative emotions. Still, you can support yourself during isolation by taking care of your body and spirit.

  • Always be kind to yourself.
  • Make a daily routine and try to stick to it.
  • Stay active and find ways to exercise (you still can cycle, walk, and do yoga).
  • Take time out for your hobbies and new interesting activities.
  • Get outside, if possible.

     4. Help Others

During the pandemic outbreak, people seem to be caught up in their own fears. However, it’s significant to remember that we’re stuck in this together. While supporting others in need, you not only contribute to society but also regain a sense of control over your life. Helping people can actually help you to feel happier and healthier. Despite social isolation, there are several steps you can do to help others:

  • Follow guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19 and save not only your life but also the lives of the most vulnerable groups of people.
  • Find others in need in your community and offer them support. You can help older people with groceries or just sometimes talk to them in a reassuring voice.
  • Make some donations to food banks to help low-income families.
  • Stay kind to people, promote kindness and charity, and be a positive influence.
