How to Improve Your Mental Health when faced with Millennial Burnout

Young people are recorded to be feeling more stress than any other generations before them. This feeling is being termed millennial burnout, and you might just be suffering with it.

What is Millennial Burnout?

Millennial burnout is a phenomenon that is experienced primarily between those under thirty years of age who are having to deal with an increasingly difficult job market (with low wages and zero hour contracts) and an increasingly impenetrable housing market. These two factors combined make it hard for young people to be able to make ends meet and can lead to stress, low moods, and anxiety.

If this sounds all too familiar to you, then you need to find ways of taking care of yourself so that your mental health can improve your quality of life and get through the trials and tribulations of the modern world with a smile on your face. Below are three great ideas to help you get started on this journey and give you some inspiration going forward.

Do Something New

Sometimes, all you need to get your head back on track is one day or night away from it all to relax and have some fun. To do this, all you need to do is visit to see the wide range of events you can attend to have some fun in your life. This could include going to see a band you love, live in concert, getting your colours on to support your favourite sports team, or singing along to beautiful songs at a musical. 

Take the Time to Rediscover Nature

One of the biggest drains of modern life is that most jobs involve you sitting in front of a computer inside all day, which can leave you feeling tired and sluggish when you finish. To combat this, planning a day out to visit one of the best national parks is a great opportunity to reconnect with nature. 

One symptom of millennial burnout is the compulsion to keep checking your emails and respond to people as soon as possible, even if you are not clocked in. To try and stop this, turn off your phone and go for a walk through a beautiful park in the sunshine with someone that you love and just take in all the wonder of the natural world. The serenity of the setting with be good for lowering your stress levels, and there is nothing like breathing in the fresh country air.

Travel to a New Place (and leave your worries behind)

Money is a big worry for millennials, but there are lots of travel hacks for a cheap holiday that you can use to see some more of the world without breaking the bank.

Instead of getting a hotel, try renting out an Air B&B with kitchen. This is not only cheaper but will give you the facilities to cook your own meals and save even more money. Booking a budget flight and only taking hand luggage is also a great way to save some cash.
