Our daily lives have been upended. With the world-wide pandemic changing the face of the world as we know it, it’s now more important than ever to stay fit and make sure our body is strong.
Doing a full-body detox is one of the best ways to boost our immune system, flush our toxins, and regain energy. But how can we do that?
We’ve prepared several tips that will help you out. If you’re looking for a way to do an at-home detox, here are the things that you can do.
Throw out the trash
Alcohol. Tobacco. Excess caffeine. Greasy junk food. Sugar. You know the culprits. We’re going to level with you here right from the start – there are no detox juices in this world that will rid you of toxins if you keep ingesting them in your body. Just because you spent one day detoxing with a few smoothies won’t help you if you just get back to drinking and smoking the next day.
To do a detox, begin by throwing all that trash out of your life. It’s not about quick fixes and easy solutions – it’s a lifestyle change that will bring you more benefits in the long run.
Bear in mind this doesn’t mean you’re forever banned from drinking a glass of wine or enjoying chocolate. It just means that you need to consume them in moderation instead of stuffing your body with junk that it can barely process. Of course, when it comes to tobacco, you should consider quitting cigarettes forever.
Cleanse your body
To start really flushing the toxins out, begin simply by upping your water intake. Hydrate your body consistently and consider drinking a detox juice on a daily basis. Here are some recipes that you can try.
If you have a ton of harmful chemicals piled up in your body and need a more serious cleanse, you can follow a detoxification program and use special products that are specifically aimed at ridding your body of any and all toxins. If you want to know which cleanse is the best for you, you can do this little quiz and you’ll know exactly what you need to use and how to use it.
Another great way to cleanse is to simply drink more tea on a daily basis. Green tea is your best option because it’s full of antioxidants that will improve your overall health.
Boost your gut health
A good detox doesn’t always have to entail liquids alone. What you eat is just as important, particularly if you suffer from leaky gut syndrome or any other type of gastrointestinal issue. The best way to boost your gut health is to eat the right type of food.
Once you’ve gotten rid of junk food, introduce some natural probiotics in your diet: yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, and kombucha are good options. They are full of healthy bacteria that will help protect your stomach lining.
You’ll also want to add high-fiber foods to your diet: apples, bananas, spinach, Swiss chard, beets, carrots, artichokes, lentils, oats, and chia seeds.
The next step are anti-inflammatory foods that will help fight infections and reduce the overall inflammation level in your body: ginger, turmeric, garlic, avocado, dark chocolate, tomatoes, and fatty fish.
To do a detox, simply ban junk food and sweets from your home for a whole month, and fill up your fridge with healthy produce. A full month with no junk and only healthy, healing foods will absolutely transform your body.
Sweat it out
Another great way to flush out toxins is simply through sweating. In truth, our body already has all of the detoxing systems it needs – our lymphatic system, our kidneys, our skin, our intestines. Basically, all we need to do is help it along.
The Department of Health and Human Services recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercises to stay healthy. This means that you can introduce 30-minute workouts, 5-6 times a week into your schedule and you’ll be able to give your body just what it needs to sweat out toxins.
Not to mention that exercise also boosts our body’s resilience and lowers inflammation, making it much easier to fight off an infection or a virus.
Rest
Our body needs rest to be able to slowly repair itself. Getting enough sleep will improve its ability to flush out toxins because sleep is necessary for pretty much every single organ in our body. Try to get at least eight hours of rest every night and try to establish a pattern where you go to bed and wake up at the same time every single day (even on weekends).
A messy sleeping pattern can be very tough on our health. If you want to give your body a chance to let go of mental and physical strain and heal itself, then establish a good sleeping routine.
Full body detox is a good way to rejuvenate your body. However, unless you change all your unhealthy habits, it will be nothing but a temporary fix. Use a detox as a way to kickstart a new routine that will lead to a better lifestyle.
