Worldwide, there is a strong belief that sweat is the main cause behind ringworm and avoiding it can save us from ringworm. But if that was the truth, then almost everyone would have fallen prey to this fungal infection. But since it is not so, it proves that sweat is not the reason, so lets establish the reasons which are the main causes of ringworm infection.
Know Why it Happens
One can get infected by ringworm via skin-to-skin contact or by using infected equipments on bare, compromised skin. So you can get infected from ringworm of the – scalp, body, face, nails, hands, groin, hands or feet.
Wanna ditch it, read on...
1. Say Noo to Scratching
When one is having ringworm of the scalp, it may inadverdently spread to the other parts of the body if you keep scratching your head. It transfers fungus to your nails and then may transfer to other parts of the body and hence other people around.
2. Keep your Skin Clean and Dry
A moist skin combined with human body temperature offers a perfect breeding ground for ringworm fungus to grow and multiply. Denying it such an environment can keep you safe. Dry well after showers. This is again a mistake committed quite often. They thrive well because we give them what they want. No matter how late one is getting, patting dry before putting on the clothes is a good practice. This doesn't take more than a couple of minutes.
3. Wear Loose Fitting Clothes
Tight fitting clothes retain moisture caused due to sweating and transfer it back to the skin. This too provides fungus a place to increase its population and cause nuisance on the bearer's body.
4. Wear Slippers or Sandals in Locker Rooms and Public Bathing Areas Like Swimming Pools
These areas remain wet most of the times and may be hiding dangerous ringworm fungus which may get transferred to the user's body. Wearing something when around such places (even swimming pools) reduces the chances of catching or transfering the ringworm infection.
5. Stop Sharing, it is a Sin
Yeah, especially if one is working out at a gym regularly like athletes. Sharing clothing, sports
equipments, towels or sheets can transfer the infection. Even personal items like combs, hairbrush, bed linen should not be shared. Even if you are not a gym goer, but are carrying a fungal infection, you must know how to prevent ringworm naturally. Deny everyone your personal items and keeping your body dry.
